Bob,

I keep forgetting that FFR's are basically designed around Fox/Mustang
donors and using those parts with little or no modification, hence the rather
big difference in their axle width options. So they offer a wide IRS assembly
for those wanting IRS with Mustang type wheels and a narrower one for
shallower backspaced wheels like 3.5'. Perhaps FFR should be a little less
liberal with term "pin drive" i.e. they offer a narrower bolt-on IRS that CAN
accomodate shallower backspaced wheels/adapters/etc., but not a true
pin-drive setup with 6-pin hubs.

If your going to build a dead on aluminum bodied car give me the leafspring. Anything else I want the best performing suspension I can get.

O.K. here is the finalized frame and suspension details for the TTR/FIA. Thanks for all of the input on this thread it has given us a little more insight and direction.

Chassis will be 289 style, 77mm diameter main tubes, 445 mm center - AC MKII style assembly
AC MK II style Comp Front lower A-Arms
Heim type joints at all pivots
289 Comp upper front A-Arms
Spindles are forged steel
Front & Rear coil-over Bilstein spring shock absorbers
11.00” cast vented rotor hub assemblies w/bearings and seals

The first 5 Cars will come with IRS 8.8 Ford at no charge. Standard rear after that will be Ford 8.8 narrowed live axle (with pan-hard bar) and the IRS will be optional.

Note: When the prices and pictures are posted for the TTR/FIA, the first five orderd turnkey minus rollers will arrive with options for IRS, LeMans Top with a halved trunk and reverse open for no extra charge and will be priced around $30,000. They will also have Trigo wheels with adapters. Those wanting true pin-drive hubs can have them for an optional charge. These 5 will be the replicas we get the production ball rolling with. Just a heads up.

Hi Larry,
We should have a display roller in its raw form in about 4-6 weeks, maybe sooner. When I say raw I mean unpainted and not wired or plummed. When the pictures come out I will also have turnkey minus pricing and included parts lists completed. We will start taking orders on the first five at that time. I will get photos of everying including body-off shots of the frame and chassis. I should have display roller painted (Rangoon Red) in about 10-12 weeks and then it will be photo'd again for our web-site and promotionals.

It looks like I'm too late to vote but I would be more interested in a modern suspension. I would also lean towards the EVO5 frame, an "original" looking frame doesn't mean that much to me. Do you plan to eventually offer the FIA as a kit for us poor folk. This might be a lower cost option to Unique or ERA.

Hi lust4fia,
We are in the process of getting out FIA car together. It will be offered as a turnkey minus car only and introductory prices will be around $30,000 for the first five cars. These first five will include a lemans top free of charge. The TKM will not be based on our EVO 5 chassis, instead it will ride on a very close to accurate FIA frame modified in the same way as the USRRC Cobras with coil springs. We are trying to be very close to original with this TKM and will offer dippled and non-dimpled trunks, forward braced single hoop bars and many other features. We will have information posted here on CC and at our web-site later this month. Here are the frame specs posted earlier in this thread:

We can place Bilsteins on that chassis as well, but we would have to charge for the difference.

HI Mike,

I've driven both and Allan is right if the car is to be a pure track car. For the street I would want the look of the FIA/Slab side with full coil overs on all four corners with a 4" round tube vs 3" for stiffness.

My next project some time in the future will be a slabside, under car exhaust, 4 wheel independant and small block 5-speed scooter.
