Don't know if it helps, but i have +/- about 2" of clearance just eyeballing it, on the ERA. Not running spacers of any type.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I remember one of our small block weber guys with a Different brand of 289 car said he had issues when he closed the hood of his car. Said the idle would drop. I don't know technically how much room between the stacks & hood is needed, my guess is that more is better. Something to consider...

That was me that had the RPM drop when shutting the hood. I believe it is more of the underhood air becoming HOT from the exhaust headers and the A/F going Fat, causing the RPM change. Easily remedied with Right Foot.

yes,
Ross put Webers on the FIA car and ran them at SAAC last weekend. Losts of clearance but he can get you dimensions. He will be traveling this week, at Ford Carlilse this weekend and home late Sunday.

I enlarged the opening for the hood scoop on the leading edge. Now all 8 stacks are clear of the hood by 1" vertical and 1/2" perimeter. Rear cylinders vertical are closest. Various "makes" will all have different dimensions, dependent upon engine mount and relationship of body mounting.
