Jon:
Would you please post the jets, air correctors, pump jet and bypass and E tube you are presently using ? If yours is running great, why change ?

Ok
It's running really nice and I would like to hook up a ARI gauge to confirm that it is correct. I would also like to try 40 chokes....
Chokes 45
Idle jet 65
Idle jet holder 110
Etubes f11
Main jet 170
air corrector 175
Timing 18 int and 38 total
Always room for some improvement

Jon:
Amazing! I just drilled my idle holders to 1.10 today ! still too rich with the 70 jets, going back to the 65's tomorrow.
e tubes f11
main jet 180
ac 180
pump jet(shooter) .50
pump bypass .50
timing 22, 38 total
I have a afr gauge in the port pipe, going to move it to the stbd side as a doublr check,as that side seems to be running leaner.

Sailor, no. Boater and pilot, yes. Port and starboard eliminate the "as viewed from front or back ?" confusion when using "left" or "right." But if you must know which is port and which is starboard.
My engine is 454c.i.

Carmine:
Yes on the "flat spot" when punching it. AFR gauge shows mixture goes lean. 15-17 then off scale. My biggest problem after the oil fouling plugs.

That's what I expected.
Larger idle jet with larger air corrector will cure that.
Within sizes I posted earlier.
Your idle mixture screws would be 1 to 1 1/8 turn open from lightly seated closed position.
Your idle when hot should be min 900 - 1000 rpm

I idle at 850 rpm and launch around 1200 rpm, in 1st w/1200 launch it will pull to 7000 which is over the top....pulls so fast and I should be shifting at 6400 all power is in @ 6000.
I had thought about going smaller on chokes..40's

Hey Jon
If it's running that good why do you want 40 chokes?

Carmine & Jon:
Swapped out the 45 chokes for the 40's. Whoa Nellie! It goes now!!!! No flat spot, just jumps ahead when you punch it ! Made no other changes, but still need to tweak other areas.
I probably could have made the 45's work with your continued help, but they probably would have only made a difference at the top end, where this engine won't spend much time, due to no place near here to turn her loose !

40 Chokes
I swapped out the 45 chokes for 40's over the weekend and what a difference.
The transion is so smooth, no hesitation at all in cruising range. I doesn't pull as strong on the top, it pulls strong to 5700 where it would pull to 7k with the 45's..... jetting is still the same as when I used the 45's. I'm going to make a change to the main jet or air corrector, that should help.
Happy NY to All
Jon
