I looked into alternatives to the fiber washers a couple of years ago and never found anything satisfactory. The metric sizing and the overall OD requirements presents a problem when trying to use Earls washers or anything similar, they are too large in diameter. After much deliberation I used a sharp 3/4" wide flat file and dressed the face of the carb and the sides of the banjos then used fresh fiber washers. Snugged them down and retorqued them after a couple of heat cycle and all's well, no seepage or leaks. Don't over do it with the file. They will appear damp initially but after being retightened after heat cycling they seal quite well.
