Nitrous for 4x48IDAs
Is this concept too complicated and far-fetched?
They're challenging enough to tune...but ahhh, an extra 50 horses would be sweet.

It's not that far fetched.
Since you have the 4X48IDAs it won't cost much more.
You will need a NOS Sportsman Fogger Nitrous Oxide Systems or similar system and 8Phenolic Insulators for IDAs that are thick enough to drill and fit the fogger nozzle.
That's about it.
I did it with some DCOEs.

I've noticed that some of the newer manifolds have vacume manifold lines drilled and tapped into the runners. Couldn't you do the same for the nitrous? This thought had already crossed my mind when I saw them....

Actually, my manifold was drilled and tapped for vacuum that I ended up NOT using for distributor advance. I do use one vacuum tap for brake servo.
Mmmm. I'll have to investigate again...

With a 460, don't be bashful - get a 150 shot. Nitrous is the cheapest fun you can imagine. My FE started at 607 Hp and I added a 150 Hp wet system. The car is reeeeealy fun now. You just need to plan ahead if you are going to use it - Tires warm? Check. Wide road? Check. Road not crowned? Check? You get the idea.
Go for it. You can mount the solenoids so that they are pretty inconspicuous. Pics in my gallery.

Actually, this was for a 302 on my GT40. I had been "humbled" by a BMW M5 recently (I posted the story in the interim forum and the thread disappeared) and I wanted to retaliate.
I don't think I want any more power for my 460 Cobra. I never thought I'd say that but I'm perfectly happy with 550hp. Tough enough making it bite!
Cheers!

One leaky valve seat while under spray and POW!, you would create an instant jigsaw puzzle of multiple pieces that make a pretty expensive intake and carb setup! Plus body work repairs.

Rick,
This video is a good example of the need for what is called a "window switch". It a about $125.00 and it prevents spraying below a certain RPM - usually 3,000 to 3,500 RPM's. In this case, he was WOT off the line and caused the Nitrous to spray at low RPM. There are also electronic switches that prevent spraying in first gear or slow speeds.
Pretty exciting huh.

Holding my foot on the floor with the 48 IDA's groaning for 10 seconds is about all the excitement I can stand. (or NEED!)
