First run after winter - I am impressed!

Last weekend I finaly fired it up after a long winter break. I drove it last in october.

All I did was fill the fuel bowls and it fired right up at the first try. Run great inmediately. No adjusting no nothing!

The old Holleys usualy needed work before they would run right - often to the extend, that I had to change dried out & shrunk metering block gaskets, reset fuel levels and idle...

I too am ready to fireup the engine. Long winter sleep and work in progress. Just asking about filling the fuel bowls, from the top or pump up to fill before you start? May be a redundant or dumb question, I just had to ask.

If you have an electric fuel pump, just let them run for a few seconds..

I have a mecanical fuel pump, so to fill the fuel bowls a little more work was required.

I removed one Main jet assy from each carb and and used a little squirt bottle to fill the bowls.

My car had been asleep in a moisture proof car bag since last Thanksgiving, and a Holley 750 sits on top of the engine along with a mechanical fuel pump. I just disable the ignition and crank it for about ten seconds before the "wake from the long winter's nap." That gets some oil pressure up and fills the bowls. Then with the ignition re-enabled the car pretty much fired right up. Adjusting the tire pressures took longer than firing up the engine (I store the car over the winter with an additional 10-15 lbs. of air in them). Other than a fresh oil change, Stabil, and extra air in the tires that's all I do before she goes in to hibernation each year. Really, that's all you need to do; no Battery Tender, no periodic start ups, nuthin. Now let's see if Rick L. jumps on me for not having an accusump....
