John,
The reason for departing at 09:00 a.m. from this area rather than earlier is its just AFTER the traffic starts to die down heading up the hill.

Maurice,
We are heading up some time on Thursday, coming home after the cruise late Saturday. However, I'm planning on trailering my car up because of time constraints. We're headed out the following day and I can't afford any delays should something unexpected come up.
Sorry - it would be fun following you up.

leaving Thursday!!
John Peteson! Thursday is the day to go up! Just let me know what time you guys want to get on the road, same time as last year was fine with me. I, however, may be trailering the car, at least on the way home. We got cooked last year on the drive home, and with the extra day it just makes sense....as much as I hate to. still waivering back and forth on this one.
Glad to hear Rick is going, I didnt think he'd be able to stay away! Yea!!!!

Hi Cindy,
Note: One big difference this year from last year is we have overhead coverage at the Corral, on the upper deck. This will at least help to limit sun exposure a bit more for part of the time while you are at WSCB.

Duane.....I had forgotton about that, and we also learned alot from the first drive. MORE sunscreen, etc etc. A big floppy hat is a plus too. I may just forget the trailer, with the way the car is running now it just does NOT belong in a trailer. The new mufflers are going on on Tuesday!!! yea!!!!!!!
A question posted in another part of this.....I sure would like to have some water to wash it up when we get up there....is that a possibiity somehow....I'll throw a hose in the truck if we can just get a water hookup up there.!!!!
34 days, about 10 hours to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! give or take

Water,water everywhere......
Ha,
All I had to do was open the cobra door and let the water out.
Let's see, we left on the sat before, got rained on,hit the Oregon coast Sunday & Monday, got rained on. Tuesday was 1/2 sunny in the wine country, Wednesday got soaked again. Met a few Cali guys Thursday and got dumped on going over the Donner summit.
Had a Fabulous time at WSCB 1 in Reno and Bev was a real trooper, said it was WORTH all the rain to get there.
So we're there again this year for WSCB 2, rain or shine!
Perry.
ps- Yes we got into a nasty thunderstorm in Oregon going back ,dumped about 4" of rain in an hour, nice thing about a glass car,no rust.

rain snow sleet hail
High plains,
as much fun as it was with the variety of weather we had for WSCB1, better to find a way to wash the cars, than for you to bring it down with you in your car !!! We're bringing more film, more digital camera stuff, be it rain or shine, it will be on film and recorded. My camera pro is workling on a camera cover thing that is weather proof, altho Mother Nature (No, really!!!) promised to have sun for us this time the whole time. Seriously!!!

Thanks for the sunny forecast !
Cindy,
Yes that would be a better idea having a car wash, don't really want sopping wet towels on the carpet.
BTW- my radial T/A's have a m&s rating and it seems every long trip we go on it has rained or snowed on us.
We'll x our fingers for SUN this time.
Perry.

Hi Scott
We are taking Ford GT and GT40 with truck/trailer - meet at Treat exit at 10am at Walnut Creek on Thursday. I suggest with so many cars take Treat exit and park on upper frontage road, then it has easy re-entry to Hwy 680.
If anyone needs bags etc taken up call me (jhplace2@aol.com) and we can take them on the truck and returning Sunday. Can drop them with me Wed in Danville.

Someone needs to take a picture of all the cars sitting there at that exit you all are meeting at!
John,
BTW my friend just got back from Knotts and commented how he's now really looking forward to meeting up with all the same WSCB people again. Its like I was saying the first year, its about the people, not the cars!

Treat Blvd Scales Alert
I just spoke with the CHP, and they're using the scales 8AM-2PM on Thursday, May 18. They suggested a large lot nearby - The Crown Plaza in Concord. It's easy to get in, and easier back on to I-680 north. I put up a site with maps from Google Earth:

Twallerich...let me do a drive by of the scales first. As I recall, there's tons of room immediately north of the scales at this off ramp. Now if the CHP has set an edict that no one is allowed near the scales we'll need to comply. Last year when I went thru there, I recall that between the overpass and the scales could probably fit a dozen cars, at least. Now if there are trucks being pulled aside for CHP inspections, this may not be a good place to worm around in with all those 18 wheelers around. Comments?
