Headlight covers
What does Fernley require regarding protecting headlights. At Thunderhill we used blue tape to cover the headlights. Blue tape, clear tape, head light screens or ???
Thanks - Tom

Tom,
Real quick.....I am here at Fernley right now to do a preview session tomorrow with ET. Staying at the fabulous Nugget. I am going to post some pics later tonight, after dinner, where you will see proper headlight preparation. (Basically tape)
It was 84 today at the track and the most beautiful sky! Hooooowaaaa....17 days to the Bash!!!!!
Check back a little later for the full report.
John

Track Day / Fernley Update
Hi Folks,
We are up here at Fernley today and tomorrow doing a preview session with ET and shaking out the BossJBL. Cindy, Cindrrr, and her son Charlie also came up on short notice to run the track tomorrow. The weather is absolutely gorgeous so let's keep our fingers crossed.
Today was spent getting the cars ready for tomorrow's run on the track and looking at details for Track Day. I am going to go over Track Day stuff with ET and Jeremy tomorrow. They are so pumped up about our event. I know they are going to be at the car show too.
I'll have a real good idea of what we are in for, ET's driving school, and much more to report after tomorrow's session. Can you imagine 60 to 70 cobras on the track??? Track Day is going to be wild!!!
Here's a few pics from today:
The BossJBL. Let's hope it stays together for the Bash.
Cindrrr's car with her new Stainless Specialties mufflers. Her car sounds like a big block with these things!
We're ready to go!
More to come and talk soon, John

John,
You'll need to take another picture for us after tomorrow is over so we can see those nice new scuff marks on the tires.
Hey - you guys aren't suppose to have the new exhaust setup on that track before I do! I'm stuck here making badges and welcome letters while you guys are up there having fun test running the track. It's not Fair! Waaaahhhhhhh! Tell ET I get two solo laps for that one.

Duane,
I'll try to take lots of pics today with cars, track, pit area, and ET. She was racing at Sears Point this weekend and think she got in pretty late last night. Not sure how early she'll be at the track this morning. They open the gates at 7am but we are planning to get there at 8. Yesterday was a long day and we are sun scorched. Today will be the same.
We'll I'm running Track Day, you know, so I'm just trying to do a good job for folks and be a good coordinator. I mean heck, someone has to do it. All this heat, these loud cars, and all this beautiful weather.... what, do you think we're having fun or something???
Seriously, I'm glad I'm doing this for a number of reasons as we discussed. But this is giving me a first hand idea of what to expect and how this will relate to the Track Day schedule.
Have to run now, more later as I have very important work to do!
Talk soon, John
Ps, How are those badges coming along?
Pps, Amanda totally hooked us up with very nice rooms here.

John,
One thing to note about your post for attendees - the SUN!
We do need to remind all attendees to be prepared for it and to be sure to bring block, hats, and clothing as such. Good thing we have overhead shade protection at the WSCB Corral/Nugget and this Track Day/WSCB thing is in May rather than mid Summer!

sun, or no sun (while parked that is)
Duane
that area where the bash is going to be is just fantastic! The parking area is sooooo much better than last year, and last year was fine. But this place is just great!! I cant wait to hear alll the cars coming up to the top, and the cool thing is if you want to be in the sun you can, if you want to be out of it, you can.
That hotel has so much more that the other one, and the good thing also is you dont have to go thru the casino to get to our area. Just a great place. Its also cool because your out on the edge of town where you just jump on the fwy to get to the track, or to whereever people might want to go. Dont have to wander thru town to get out of it. Very nice.
The casino has some good craps tables too......

Exhibition?
John,
In an early post you had mentioned the possibility of an exhibition or two on the track for lunch time on Friday. Is that still a possibility? Will it be something we shouldn't miss?
I'm trying to decide what time to leave for Sparks on Friday. I'll be heading over to the track when I get there.
If I leave too late, will I be sorry?

Hey Jim,
Its not certain 100% yet, but Gary/Don are talking about running the USRRC Cobra and the Ford PaceSetter/Lotus 19B (Predecessor to GT40) for a few laps around the track. Next, time permitting, if the registered Track Day participants have passengers they want to take out for a few parade laps we may do that. This is all during lunch time so we are going to cram in as much as we can but still have time for a nice BBQ for the track day participants. We are sort of playing the demo by ear right now till we get there.
Take Care.
Duane

Hi Jim,
Yes and along with what Duane described I am trying to arrange with ET to have one of the fastest, if not the fastest, Factory Five spec racers in the country demonstrate how you put a cobra up on 2 wheels during lunch.
Also, I'm working on a little surprise that may or may not happen. You will just have to show up at the track. I'm not going to announce it but should be cool if I can pull it off.
Hope to see you there!
John

Duane,Jim,
Is there accomodation or availability of lunch for non-track day people who show up or do we need to make sure we get somthing before we get to the track?

Hey Maurice,
Yeah, We had the track and ET all to ourselves, absolutely beautiful day, and the car drove like a kart on steroids. It was just the best. But unfortunately, I am dealing with major valve train issues. I took the heads to Tom Lucas today. He seems to have a good idea of what the problem is. I’ll fill you in next week. Can you say "Rush Order"?
Keep your fingers crossed I can get this thing back together in time for the Bash and a few hot-laps.
Talk soon, John

Here's a great shot of Cindrrr and ET just coming in from a session. Cindy was really getting the hang of it by the days end. Nice going Cindrr!!!
Here's a distant shot of ET and me in the bossjbl. She was getting thrown around in the passenger
seat pretty good through the twisties but I couldn't get up the nerve, as ET would say, to "hammer it!!!!"
down the straight. I just put it in 5th and backed off. That first left at the end of the straight comes up
pretty fast. On Sunday they had open track and the bikes were hitting 154 mph down the straight as
were a couple of the Porsches. The important thing to always remember is to drive at your comfort level
and within your abilities. Like I told ET when I spun on 13.
Ready for turn 1????

Ouch, John.
I`m sure sorry to hear about the recurring problems with your engine.
Hard to believe your bad luck with the beauty.
Tom will get you squared away, even if they have to be completed on site.
See you there

Looks like I am going to have to get a helmet that matchs. That motorcycle helmet just doesent look right!
What a great way to spend a day or 2 with a Cobra that is built for curvy roads and twisties corners. They are just meant to be on these tracks. Fun fun fun. God it was fun. Get me back to the track!!!
