Galena or Bust - Tomorrow
Tomorrow, Nov. 7, we are driving to Galena, leaving the house promptly at 11 AM and returning home before dark. I know some back roads that can be good, depending upon traffic. Any WCCC members interested in joining us??? The weather is too good to pass up.
Lunch at the DeSoto House, walk around downtown and return home.
If so, please respond or call me at phone numbers listed in WCCC directory. We can meet at our house and go from there.

Lee: How far is Galena from you? Peg and I might try, have to see if I can change a few things around in the next two hours to try. How long to get from Schaumburg (90 & Barrington) to you?

Galena is about 2 hours from our house, going the back roads.
If you go I90 then we are about 1 hour from Schaumberg. However the main exit from I90 onto Bypass 20 may still be closed. Call me and I can direct you better.
Cell number is 815-298-2383. Hope to see you both.

Lee: Update: We are going to try and hook up with Marty and Pat. So we may be up to 3.

Tim and Peg, thanks for joining us. The day turned out great, just the way I had hoped for. How did you like the return trip on Stage Coach Trail?
For the rest, we only had to pass 3 cars in the 30 plus miles on this very curvy road. A few months ago I returned the same way with my youngest Daughter, Kim, and we did not have to pass any car.

Great roads and scenery. A definate repeat trip in the future . ... and by the way - Peg says great shopping (go figure).
Got home a little after dark - I thought all the bugs were dead by now. I needed a putty knife to clean the windshield.
Thanks again to Karlene and you for being perfect hosts.

No, no, no... ix-nay on talking about the Stage Coach Trail on-line. It's one of the best-kept secrets in Northern Illinois. I've been riding/driving it for 20 years without seeing much of a change at all in the traffic. Shhhhhhh.
Sounds like a great time - maybe in a few years when mine is done I'll have to try a late-Fall trip on that route.

Chris: Not only are the roads spectacular, the cruise downtown Galena and blipping the gas a little, wakes the tourists and locals up - something a little different than all the H-D traffic (which is cool too). Keep on buildin', the more the merrier.
