Default Anyone apply for title recently

I am finally road ready. I want to make sure I am titled and liscensed for the driving season. I've talked to a secretary of state cop at a car show and I have called down to Springfield and got two totally different and confusing scenerios. Anyone done this recently? I have heard the process has changed. any help would be appreciated. After 6 years of building I don't want to miss this summer.
thanks,
todd

here is a link to the Il Secretary of State WEB site. I talked to one of the guys who does inspections for Central Illinois, they are really familiar with different brands and some pass a lot easier that others. http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/de...ustom_rod.html
some times it takes a while to get the inspection scheduled , so start checking now.

I got my car registered last summer. I had to send my MSO and all the receipts to prove I built the car then they will send you a 90 day temp plate to drive the dar to the inspection - and anywhere else you want to go Then I had to contact the NSRA to get the car inspected. The funny thing my 9 year old son realized was we had to drive the car 30 miles to meet the NSRA guy to get the saftey inspection done.

Common sense stuff but... Be sure your parking brake, lights and signals, and wipers work or you'll fail. You also can't have any steering linkage, fuel lines or cables below the frame scrub line or you'll fail.

The guy who inspected my car is a car guy and was really nice. The woman I spoke to in Springfield was pretty helpful although it took about 3-4 weeks.

Good luck
Nick

this is no longer the case. From what I understand the NSRA is no longer doing the safety inspections. I dont know much more info than that, but I do know you need to contact LuAnn in the sec of state office. If you need her number send me a pm.
