Default I think I'm in over my head-again :-0

My new 4 post lift just showed up and after some serious back breaking work to get it unloaded and into the garage, with just me and my 16 year old son. I'm thinking I need some help...

I think I could assemble it, if I had to. But does anyone know of any companies in the area I could pay to have the lift assembled?

Thanks,
Ed

Ed,
Maybe some of your WCCC guys can come over and help. I would but it is a little too far.

If you are working that hard you are doing it wrong. You need a couple floor jacks. The only part that requires more than two people to lift is the hydraulic cylinder runway. You got the hard part over with, just take your time and go bang on a neighbors door if you need help.

Thanks Terry!!!!

Max,

I was talking about how hard it was for my son and I the get the lift off the truck and into the garage. All pieces included was around 3K pounds. The 2 rails had to be about 700 pounds a piece.

I'm not so concerned about me putting it together, but I would prefer to pay someone to do it right, than have my car drop to the ground this winter

Also, my work schedule is really tight right now and paying someone would really help me out.

Thanks,

Ed

Hi Ed, "the other Ed", Which lift did you purchase? Major congrats. I am looking forward to getting my shop wired and my lift also.

Be careful on the install.

Thanks! I found someone to install my lift. Its a company in Addison that sells and services lifts for commercial shops, but they said they'd be more than happy to do a residential install as long as the lift is new and not used.

I had someone come through with a backup incase the other company couldn't do it this week. Need to get my car back from the dyno tuner on Friday and wanted the lift done before that.

I went with a Quality Lift model Q4P09H. Its a 4 post with 9000lbs rating.

Thanks again!
Ed

The instructions with my 4-post lift said that bolting it to the floor was optional. Indeed, the lift isn't going to fall down if not bolted, but the bolting does eliminate all of the "swaying" that happens when you pull on a wrench, etc. You'll feel 100% more confident working under the lift with it bolted to the concrete, in my opinion.
Good luck!

+1
We did a lift in my brothers shop and bolting it down was a good decision. Gives you a warm fuzzy knowing the "sway" is gone.

Thanks everybody!

The new lift is in and shimmed/bolted to the floor. The people doing the install did a great job. Check and adjusted all the manual stops on all 4 corners. Works great! I am glad I went with bolting it down, its rock solid with the car loaded on.
