Default Pic.s from Road America

We're back from the greatest racing venue I've every been to...Road America!
Here are some shots of Steve mixing it up coming out of Turn 8

And, let's not forget that beautiful "door slamming" Lola of Johan:

Ahhh, you can't believe how distracting that was having the door swing open every left hand turn !

Unhappy Black Flagged

I can't imagine. I was distracted by the HANS device (first time used), and a misfitting helmet, holding my head back, unable to see my mirrors, loosing apex sight in turn 6, and eventually getting Black Flagged. Situation corrected for next session out with clean underwear.

Sorry, we didn't get to meet you. You certainly have a beautiful car. Maybe next year.

Larry

In that third picture I am wondering how I screwed up that turn so bad that I am that far from the rumble strips .

Oh yes...And db, I don't know what you were driving at RA that you never considered 2nd gear, or ever considered 1st gear out of 5 or 6 or 8 or12. I respect your knowledge regarding cold brakes, track, tires and brain...but your recomendations don't know "jack" about acelleration out of these corners. Were you driving a VW powered vehicle...or was it something NASCAR (oh I know...Danica recommended) related...no tranny! Hehehehe. We luv you. Get yo as$ back soon!

Exclamation Mustang handling

I had a hand full of people comment (both at the track and on this forum) on the severe leaning of my car in corners. The springs are designed and sized by an older racer who competed in the '60s and '70s, and did very well professionally. I have prepared the car to the best of my knowledge (with outside influences) to stay within the vintage racing rules of our club. So I sent him this photo Larry shot with the caption "Is this the leaning you're looking for?"

His comment:
"When you get faster, you will get up to the lean we expect for best handling."

Damn...... I just can't win!

Johan,

I found this video someone else posted. At the 2:27 mark you can see your right door swing open at turn 5. I think you were just showing off for the ladies... just like the drifting guy......... Yee Haaaaaa

It looks like you guys had a great time and the weather cooperated with the event. Beautiful place Elkhart Lake and the people are great too. I love that track. The last time I was there two years ago I lost my drive shaft going into turn One (at speed of course). Boy that will get your stones re-sized!

Post more pictures if you don't mind?

Clois

Lap after lap I had to contend with the Lola coupe right on my ass waiting for me to make a mistake while that damn door swung open every left turn and brake zone. I tried to hold it closed because I was worried that I would be black flagged.

I thought I saw you dumping your ice cup out each time though turn 5. Was there a drive thru window at Canada Corner?

Cool Practice Lap

Here is a practice lap video (Helmet Cam) from Road America. I need to reposition the camera, and grow some bigger "nads"...however, what a great time and track! Enjoy.
