New Cobra in Chicago
Hey everybody, wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and my Cobra. From 2005-2008 I owned a powdercoating shop in Des Moines. In 2006 we (the shop) and I built an FFR Cobra as a way to promote the shop and our services. Well at the end of 2008 I decided I had enough of the shop and closed the shop and returned home to Chicago. Unfortunately due to logistics I couldn't bring the Cobra with me so I stored it at the family home in Iowa. Well, I finally was able to resolve the logistics issue and this last week I trailed the car back and it is finally home in Chicago. It has been a long journey getting it here and it is a huge relief to have it with me. I cant wait to meet my fellow Chicagoland Cobra owners and look forward to the fun days ahead.
I attached some photos of the car let me know what you think! I can walk to Superdawg from my house, so if anyone is ever in the area, just stop on by or give me the heads up and I'll come join ya!

Thanks! I love the blue with the silver stripes so much I had my motorcycle painted to match.
I'm curious do you ever get over being nervous taking it out? Back in my old home town if anything happened I had a lot of resources to pull from ie. Towing, friends that are mechanics and such. But here in Chicago I have none of that. Plus the roads are so bad around here it is always a nerve racking experience. I was thinking about having a meet and greet here at the house and then maybe a cruise with some fellow cobra owners. I would love to get some input and ideas from everyone. I have a lot of questions. Anyone game?

I've only had mine for a little over a year, but I have experienced, for the most part, people will give you plenty of room. However, if they are driving and trying to take a picture of you at the same time, keep an eye on them, as you will become a magnet as their hands follow their eyes. As for road conditions, I totally agree. The only suggestion I have would be to learn what roads are good and which will be good once construction is completed. My only near miss so far was taking a corner too hot in the rain. Luckily there weren't any other cars and I had a lot of wiggle room before the median, and got it back under control.
The guys here can answer all your questions about awesome mechanics, who to call for towing, etc.
I'm always game for a meet and greet, especially if you can find a day that won't be 90+ degrees.

In joining WCCC you will find out about places to go to repair your Cobra and who to call in the area if you need help . All in All it is a good group and they will come to your aid if need be . I would attend the picnic if you can and meet everyone .

WOW; Blue with Silver Strips you say………….. I will bet that looks good. I am just saying.
So let me ask you a question; when you say ‘in Chicago’ do you mean in the City proper or one of the many suburbs? Oh I am sorry – you said near the Superdawg. Is that at like Milwaukee and Devon? I guess that is in the City; welcome.
As for meeting some members - I am sure if you showed-up to a snake & eggs you would be welcomed with open arms. If you invite people to your house and offer Beer they have been known to show-up and actually build a Cobra ………….. amazing what these guys will do for Beer.
Look forward to meeting you soon.
