In search of some useful side mirrors
I've spoken to many of you about adding on some better side mirrors. A common response has been a local or chain auto part stores. I have now been to 6 part stores in my area and at each one I have not found even one person who could give me an option other than a stick-on convex mirror. I'm starting to think that no one working in an auto parts store is an actual auto enthusiast.
So if anyone remembers details of where they found their side mirrors - whether they are suction-cup, fit onto the wind wings, or another set-up, I'm looking for any and all options. Thanks in advance!

These are very well done and the owners love them. I don't have one myself.
STORE
If you goal is merely to see out the back, a 7 dollar clip on convex for the inside mirror (mounted at top of wind screen) works just fine. Great function but way short on bragging rights.

those do look like the way to go. I got one of those convex mirrors the other day and stuck it on the fender mirror: well, they are such a wide angle that unless its a semi right by my rear fender I cant see sh*t (not that i could see sh*t with the flat lense either). I also had the raydot ones and those are useless too.
Anyone have a decent option for the inside mirror? I'd like something with a longer mounting post and a wider mirror.

Someone out there makes a replacement mirror that is slightly convex and has the threaded shaft on it that just replaces the standard glass.
Only problem is that I got mine about 9 years ago and don't have the slightest recollection of who I got them from. Just take heart in the fact that they are out there, just going to take some digging.

What about these from Cobra Valley? Anyone tried them? I would think the 4:1 would be the better of their two options.

Pretty sure Kevin got the mirrors I was referring to. Really helped (4:1) without excessive distortions.

I went with the 4:1 on the left fender mirror on my Superformance along with a Broadway clip-on wide view mirror that I found on eBay. The side mirror is still basically useless, but the clip on wide view mirror really helps.

Kate,
After installing two sets of useless windshield frame mirrors, including custom mount Raydots, I went with the Dream Car Company wing mounts mentioned by a number of owners above. These work great.

OK, so Don says the 4:1 mirror "really helped" and Doug says it's stilll "basically useless". I guess for $4.95 + shipping I can try it myself but since I haven't drilled the holes on the fender yet to mount the mirror I'm still trying to keep my options open. Any additional input would be appreciated.
Kate - I realize I just hijacked your thread, but I'm guessing you have the same question!
Regards,
Kevin

Hal,
Can you post photos of the Dream Car Company mirrors fastened to the windshield frame? The Dream Mirrors web site shows the mirrors hung from a stem while the video indicates another piece joins the stem to the frame. What is the joining piece and how does it fasten to the windshield frame?

I've got a set of these and love them: 4 Inch Peep Mirror - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop
Can't beat the price ($15 each), easy to install (just clamp to the windshield post), and very adjustable.

My interior mirror is a Ford .....stick on type.....some with dimming feature too ,that I turned and mounted on the top of my dash......
Over 80 ..you're looking at the seats if its mounted on the windshield.....the wind flexes the screen......anyway....I had to trim the little "socket ".that the mirror pedestal clips into in the mirror........between that and the little round one on the side ,..........no probs.........

Kate, I use this one, clipped over my dash mirror:
Amazon.com: Bell 22-1-22091-8 Wide Angle Rearview Mirror: Automotive
I think I got mine from one of the large auto parts stores, like Auto Zone, etc.
Still looking for some decent side mirrors but am not willing to spend 250 smackers for a pair.

The "peep" mirrors have been very popular as well as those from Breeze. I'll be getting the Breeze type when budget allows.

I found these at Walmart for $3 a pair. They are adjustable, and I mounted them in each upper corner of the windshield with a small threaded shaft onto a suction cup. The left one is relatively close to your eye and fills in virtually the entire blind spot on the left side. The right one, being further away, does a decent job of filling in the right blind spot, but not as comprehensive as the left.
Custom Accessories Adjustable Blind Spot Mirror Pair, Chrome: Automotive : Walmart.com
They look like a factory installed mirror....that is the comment/question I often get from people looking at the car.
I am not good as posting pictures here, but send me a private message and I will be happy to send along some pictures.
