I need to call State Farm. American Collectors just raised my rate to $778 (66k value). They said the rates on replica cars jumped significantly in price this past year.

In addition to state Farm, any other companies worth calling?

Rates in Illinois tend to be much higher, especially when you live in the greater Chicagoland area. And State Farm in Illinois does tend to view kit cars differently that "normal" cars.

State Farm holds all our other policies, including 2 homes, 5 others vehicles and a trailer. They were willing to cover the Cobra at the same levels as our other cars, for over $800 a year, with value listed as our purchase price. Midwest had much better coverage, lets me drive it to work (although I don't as I'm not willing to let it sit out in our parking lot for a 6 hour shift), and rolls over unused annual mileage in case I do some really long drives in one year. Last year I paid just over $500.

This year I plan to call around for other options, just to price shop.

American Collectors quoted me a similar rate a couple of years ago when I tried to add my ERA to my policy. I dropped them and took all of my cars to Midwest.

State Farm in New Mexico (I also insure my house and two other cars) costs me $378.00 per year with a valuation of $40K. It is shown as a 1965 Shelby Cobra classic car with 7,500 mile per year limit.
Liability Bodily Injury & Property Damage 250/500/100
Comp & Collision $500 deductible
Uninsured /unknown motorist 25/50/25 ($250 deductible)

American Modern Insurance quoted $598/yr for similar coverage
Haggerty quoted $653/yr with 100/300 coverage, higher deductible
