It's passed the house - it's in the senate now.

APR-24-02 S PLACED ON CALENDAR ORDER OF 2ND READING APR-25-02
APR-25-02 S SECOND READING
APR-25-02 S PLACED ON CALENDAR ORDER OF 3RD READING MAY-06-02

Now I have *NO* idea what these "Readings" are as I'm not into politics to that level.

It appears that the next look at this bill will happen on May 6.

Anyone know what any of that means?

(The link is above to the actual bill.)

Ozona:
Typically, here's how this thing works:
First, the transportaion committee reads the bill as a group, and decides on wording, any changes that might be need to comply with statutes, etc.
If they all agree, the bill goes to a second reading, usually in front of the committee and the originating body. (If the House sponsers the bill, they are the first reading, and vice versa if the Senate sponsers the bill).
Then, if no objections are made, the bill is put on the calendar for the full sponsoring body to review. If it is then passed by them, it goes through the same procedure with the other body.
After both groups have had a shot at it, and it passes both "houses" it them goes onto the review committe, who does a legal proceeding voodoo thing, and it is then put on the list of passed legislation for the Governor to sign.
Simple, No?

Pretty much. This has already passed the house and is in the senate. So if I understand correctly, we'll know what will happen with this bill on May 6th ish.

can someone explain this:

http://www.legis.state.il.us/publica...s/92-0668.html

I read it all. I understand most of it...I think. They added Hot Rod and Custom Vehicle definitions. But they don't mention anything about titles or emissions. Hmmm....

GS

Ok I read it...Under Sec. 13A-104. Inspections:

The following vehicles are not subject to
inspection:
(1) vehicles not subject to registration under
Article IV of Chapter 3 of The Illinois Vehicle Code,
other than vehicles owned by the federal government;
(2) motorcycles, motor driven cycles and motorized
pedalcycles;
(3) farm vehicles and implements of husbandry;
(4) implements of warfare owned by the State or
federal government;
(5) antique vehicles, custom vehicles, street rods,
and vehicles of model year 1967 or before;
(6) vehicles operated exclusively for parade or
ceremonial purposes by any veterans, fraternal or civic
organization, organized on a not-for-profit basis;[color=red]
