Last night's meeting
Hope all went well at last nights meeting. The Stewart Transport truck showed up around 7:20. We were unloaded pretty quickly. The smile is still not off of my face. I am afraid of what is going to happen when I actually get to drive this thing. People will think that I took up drugs or something because I will be on a continual high. The highlight of the evening was my sons observation of the side pipes...
The car has rockets
What was decided for Spring Fling? I have a strong interest in supporting this event as a club.
BTW, I know we have been looking at logo's, etc. There is a post on FFCobra.com regarding replicas of the original team jackets. The person is trying to get the cost down to $200, but they are nice looking jackets. What are people's thoughts on use getting these and getting a Windy City Cobra Club arm patch or something like that. Just a thought.

So thats what those things are for!!! eek:
Meeting was great. Snake Oil (Arcenio) is heading up the caravan to DVSF. Check with him for details. I don't recall what was said about the logo. And jackets sound great!

I will volunteer to assist Arcenio in whatever way I can. I need to kick it into high gear so that I can be towing a car to DVSF III, but will be glad to help. It is a great cause.

Sid-
Are you going to get your car in time for DVSF III ?
If so, could I get a ride w/ you as passenger/"navigator" ??
(if work schedule permits)

Nope March is the going to be the time of deposit and 6-7mo for the build. So Aug or Sept it should be delivered...But this all depends one where I get a job. If it is out of state then no cobra. If I stay here then I'll be living at home with the parents.
Don't worry Bob your the first on the list for a ride/drive when I get it!

I'll be looking forward to it!
What engine did you decide on? A 351w?
Carbs or FI?

I keep jumping between the 396 or 351. But the engine builder I'm going with has a 100 dollar difference between the 396 and 408. Hp on the 396 is estimated at 450 and the 408 is rated at 495. 100 bucks for 45 more hp aint too bad!
It will be carbed. I've been looking at efi but its just way too expensive to get it right. I could try a cheap set up using a modified 5.0 efi but I will not get all the power out of the motor. So there is no point.
The only problem I have with the 408 is the more you bore the less you motor lasts. I can just get the 396 and a year later bolt on AFR's (as long as the pistons are correct.) to add some serious power while keeping the CI at a reliable level.
I'm not saying that a 408 is horrible and will fall apart after 1000 miles. But I plan on driving my car as much as possible. After reading Hal Copple's posts I am confident that a well built 396 is perfect for the cobra.
The ride List:
1. ME
2. First hot Brunette on my way to give Bob Day a ride.
3. Bob Day
Its good to have you around at the meetings. Lets start the Windy City Cobraless Club!!! We can sit in the garage and make cobra noises. I'm seriously considering buying the Cobra Univ. Sounds CD!

Sid- Sounds like a good plan!
When the time comes after the kid's tuition's are paid off,
an FFR w/a 302 will be plenty enough for me. Mark's car
has enough get up and go for my speed requirements, and that's pretty much bone stock, am I correct, Mark?? Then, when I'm
looking for more speed and power-a supercharger might be the ticket.

I got to hit up Mark for a ride...I drove Bob K. 302 powered car but I did not get on it because I was too afraid.
Your right about the supercharger...talk about bolt on power! I was looking at the Kenne Bell set up. That is some serious torque on tap!
