Thanks to Sid for setting up this event!
This will be one of several on-track events that we will be having this year. The other events will be road course events at Blackhawk Farms, Gingerman, and Road America.
Once we have everything finalized, which should be soon, there will be a fairly complete 2003 calendar of events in the next issue of Snake Eyes.
Thanks,
C

Its been too damn cold!
Let's aim for a mid-March event....That way there's a chance that we can bring the cars...
We can have it at The Curragh in Schaumburg again or we can have it at someone's house if someone has the time and accomodations.
Any ideas?

Meeting
Some time in March is good for me.
Hey guys, one of our members e-mailed me and respectfully suggested possibly having a meeting on a Saturday.

Thought I'd bring it up and see how everyone feels about it

The rollbar question has been answered...
You can drive you cobra up to 11.5sec down the track with a single rollbar and helmet. Any faster your probably get booted

The one thing that the techs really get uptight about
is an open body car. ESPECIALLY WITH THE REPUTATION OUR CARS HAVE.
These are MUST HAVES,
Arm restraints,
three point belt (or better),
Full face helmet (that means it has to have a sheild),
Long sleeve shirt or jacket (no T shirts ),
long pants (no shorts).
BELIEVE ME YOU DON'T WANT TO GET TO THE TRACK,
AND PAY ,
AND THEN BE TOLD YOU CAN'T RACE.
EQUIPMENT AND CONDITION
OF CAR FALLS COMPLETLY ON THE OWNER / RACER
AND THESE GUYS DON'T CARE (about exuces)
THEY WILL SEND YOU PACKING IN A HEARTBEAT SO,
BE PREPARED.
and have more fun!!!

A couple questions:
Does their have to be a newer Snell on the helmet (mine is Snell 92 I think)
and what kind of arm restraints are needed?

Arm restraints
Hey all,
C Dog, to answer your question about arm restraints.
They are made of the same material as your seat belts are
but are thinner and have a soft cuff like on the end .
This goes on your wrist or forearm.
The other end i simply attachhed to my safety harness.
Look in Jegs they are not very costly.
As far as the helmet goes I personally have never seen any inspector check , BUT that does not mean it can't happen.
But I personally think if you look prepared and look like you know what to expect, you'll be fine(they'll leave you alone).

I hope to be there. The car should get to the paint shop in March. I've never dragged (other than my moms 1980 Olds Delta 88 in Highschool), so what are arm restraints? And no, i'm not talking about the kind my kinky friends buy from "those magazines". And, yes I won lots of beer with that big ugly car.
Really, I'm looking forward to seeing what this car can do. Thanks for pulling this together.

Arm Restraints
I guess I'll have to bring them to the next meeting so everyone can see what they look like.
