Sounds like some good times and nothing broken. Man, Chris a 3-legged run in the low 12s and Arcenio was ashamed of low 12s. When I was running my Cuda I was beating the heck out of the door to 13s and just could not make it. Anyone drop into the 11s? That's some fast stuff

Well Erik, my pathetic Backdraft ran a miserable 14.2 1/4 mile.

On its defense however, was:

1. Bad driving.... haven’t tried this drag thing since High School. (over 20 years)

2. Bad driving....those who saw me kill my car 2 or 3 times at the burn out contest at Strat's understand...

3. Bad driving....spun the (right tire - no Posi - not good for drag racing) crap out of the car in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Finally hooked up but a little too late.

4. Lost 1 of my 2 bolts holding on my front left caliper on the drive out to the track. Couldn't figure out what the slight shimmy was. Finishing 1/4 mile at just over 100mph the shimmy was pretty wild when I touched the brakes... Not good. Then finally got under the car to realize that I was missing a bolt with no BMW replacement parts on hand. Go figure.

So, unfortunately I only got 1 (I like to call - practice run) in for the whole day and had to limp the car home, downshifting and using the e-brake to stop.

A word to Jeffko and your Great Looking new Backdraft...

CHECK ALL YOUR BOLTS... ALL THE TIME!!!

This is not the first time I have lost a caliper bolt. I lost one before and had to flat bed the car home... after getting the car home I thought that I took off all caliper bolts and put lock-tite on them all, but maybe I just did the back brakes as the front ones were not loose at all at the time... Many other bolts have worked themselves loose also... But I guess that's why we love these cars - because we love to work on them...

Oh well, live and learn.

Jack

This spring will be interesting... I may have a little trick up my sleeve also.

Erik,

Is your car in pieces yet? What do you plan on doing this winter?

Well, I'm getting SCJ aluminum heads (compared to 30 year old stock iron heads I currently have) from Jon Kaase with a stage I porting. I'm switching to a custom roller cam from comp cams. Finally, I get to switch to roller rockers! I'm told I should see a gain of 100-125rwhp. Hell, I can't drive the car now, wait till this spring.

EMK Have you seen a computor print outof this , I have , the roller cam is ok but the ported heads will make the differance. the key word here is torque, more torque and stump pulling torque. It will come on so early it will blow your mind . Good luck at keeping tires on the rear. Im looking at doing the same thing to my 390sd Bob

AAggh,
The thrill of winter up grades.
I think I may replace my spark plug wires - cause, you know my all stock 260 misses a little when the air is moist.

Heck if it is dry it will hit on 5 cylinders!
