S&E #15 Followed by Bryon Drag Racing
Okay – I started a New Thread just to keep things straight.
The power of the people has spoken again. We are planning a late season trip to Bryon to get in a little drag racing. This is an open event for anyone that wants to come. You do not need a Cobra. If you do not want to race, please come as a spectator. (Heck, you can even race your daily driver).
For those of you not familiar with Byron it is located in the Rockford area and is a very people friendly track. Their web site can be viewed at www.byrondragway.com. The website includes directions to the track.
We plan an a S&E breakfast at the infamous Cracker Barrel in Elgin starting at 7:30am. (The restaurant is on Route 31 just off 90). We will pull out by 9:00am. Bryon starts racing at 10:00am.
If you are planning on coming as either a driver or spectator please add your name to this thread so we can get an accurate head count. The initial list is as follows:
Fred Racing
Arcenio Racing
Michael Racing
Chris Racing
Wolf Racing
Rich Racing
Ron Spectator
Sid Spectator
Anyone else?

Hey...Isn't that the restaurant where you held you own personal club meeting earlier this year? You had some club initiatives that you couldn’t get approved because you kept voting NO ???
You sat in the corner, talking out loud, and asking yourself to repeat the previous question…
I know that place…….I RED about that meeting somewhere…

Rich,
Put me down for 3 spectators...Jeff, David & Luke
We will probably make it to cracker barrel in time to reload the thermos and no Gurnee is not in Wisconsin.
Couldn't make it after all. Halloween party and kids.

Hey Guys……
Well it looks like at least a dozen or so for Breakfast and 7 or 8 for Drag racing.
I hope some more will be tempted for either of both.
I have talked to Byron Raceway; we do have our own staging lane. We will be announced as the Windy City Cobra Club.
Hope to see everyone Sunday.

Who's ready for action?
Who is trailering and who is driving?
I know my Dad and myself plan on driving to breakfast and Byron.

Chris
We will meet you at breakfast. I am driving, Fred & Marty are driving, Arcenio is trailering. I assume Michael is driving. Jack is hoping to meet us there. Not sure if anyone else is racing.
We can always hope.
There are a number of other people that will be at the S&E - I hope some will drive out to Bryon with us.
So, as it stands you are the past champion.
We need a traveling trophy fro these events.
See you tomorrow.

Erik...Man you dropped down to 8th fastest or something. Notice how the two winners aren't saying much...Those where nice trophies!
I used Shelby's camera for the victory pics. So we just got to wait till he desides to show up! LOL!

Good to hear that a bunch of snakes got out to a drag strip. Hotfingers was nice enough to share his "10 sec club" avatar with me when I got there and if any of you earned it, I'll be glad to send you a copy. Just drop me an e-mail.

Well?
What's the deal?
ET's???
Who did what? Arcenio, how's that turbo goin??
I wanna see timeslips!
Man I'm losin' it. Not being there for that racing and breakfast makes me nutso.
I am feeling better since I opened the race gas jug and inhaled it. A lot better. Then I took some rubber residue off my inner fender well and burned it over a candle. Mmmmmmm.
Dreaming dreaming.
G'nite all.

ET"s???
Well I am ashamed to sat I could not break the 12 sec barrier
I think my best that day was 12.285????
Good for second place.
I turned the boost up to 18-20 lbs didn't want to chance mucking it up again, after all just got it back.
Track was a little slick though.
First pass I was going sideways down the track,
had to shut it down mid track.
Rich Selby edged me out last pass by .03 sec.
Oh well, that's racing!!
Sometimes your the bug, and somtimes you're the windshield.
Besides there's next season......
Thre to four months of no cobra...

I had mechanical problems. No fuel off the line. Lots of bogging. Either a carb problem, or a battery/alternator problem. I had a hard time getting the car to turn over all day and by the end the battery was dead. (Thanks to the WCCC for the jump start. Not a clean run all day. It's a shame too, the weather was perfect. I ran a three legged 12.4. I was hoping for the 11's with a healthy car. By the way Erik, Wolfie was a little quicker than you. I think he ran a 12.4 or a 12.5, not too bad for his first time ever.
Until next year...
