Mary & I have made reservations at the Country Inn but we will not be cancelling our Hampton reservations in case you all change the location back to London Ohio. We just want to cover all possible senearios.
Oh and Blas, Donc wants you to stay with them at the Holiday Inn, but I really think that we need you to stay with the WCCC group. That way we may have a chance to win 1st place for the member with the shinyest car.

I canceled Hampton and got a room at Country Inn. there is going to be another group with ours there. Funny...they took all the smoking rooms!
Sid
btw: Are you guys paying as much as I am? the price went up from Hampton! I tried doing a reservation on the county inn website and no pricing is available.

My room was 89. It is $10 more than the Holiday Inn, but in my past experience, is worth it. Besides, they have a hot Breakfast.

Gee Sid,
I got a two room suite with a hot tub for $69.00 a night there...
And it comes with two 20 year old twins as swedish room matrons who turn down the bed. etc. and a bar...
Perhaps you forgot to mention your with the WCCC and a friend of Don Blassi....
I just asked if they had a Presidential Suite...they said, "Why yes we do"...so I informed them that 'ol Bush-wacker" won't be attending the Fling...so they made his room available....
Now, about putting that 6 cylinder engine in you new BDR....

It appears we are filling up the Country Inn rapidly. Susan and I have made our reservations . We took the smoking in the street room also!
My cobra is now painted and I am picking the car up on Saturday. Should give me just enough time to get finished before the 100 day snake and eggs.

Where to stay?
The DVSF site has hotels listed but has yet to post specifics on their site. But it appears that they will be blocking rooms at hotels in the Elyria area. There is a Holiday, a Comfort, and a Country Inn to choose from. Any of these will work for me, so perhaps will need to just flip a coin and start getting our rooms reserved.

Perhaps I should have read page two of this thread!!!! It appears that the Country Inn is the place the club is staying at? I will call now and get a room for Barb and I. You guys won't get us thrown out will ya? Tell me now as they most likely will not refund unused days. I'll bring sleeping bags just in case!

Get thrown out???
Keith I personally take offense at that statement.
Are you insinuating that we are some kind of rowdy car club?
I'll have you know sir, most of us are quite meek and reserved.
Although, our cars do seem to make a lot of noise, and that pesky
problem with the smoke billowing out of the rear tires upon acceleration.
You'd think someone would have come up with a
solution to that problem.
Oh wait, yeah, I think Marty did.
He drives it like a granny.

DV times two
If it wasn't a problem with getting hotel reservations changed to Cleveland, it now appears that their is a split in Double Venom this year. I received an email from SCOF that the two clubs are having a battle over the DV location with one setting it up at the original site on the same weekend. It would appear that this event is fractioning off into a Double Venom Double Location that should cause only friction between otherwise like minded cobra owners.
As my first year attending, this is rather confusing to me as to what is actually going on here. Is this a turf war between two rival clubs? Has anyone else gotten information that can make sense of this?

It seems rational to watch fairly closely what develops over the next weeks. There has been an on-going fractiousness sputtering since DVSF4. We should IMNSHO use the next few weeks to consider the developments regarding both sites - (I'm not cancelling my Elyria reservations) and decide both individually and hopefully as a club which we will attend. At the risk of throwing additional fuel, it seems that the Lake Snakes Fling (Elyria) event is more likely to be the better organized & attended
if only because the London event seems a reactionary move to previously existing resentment. I could change my mind though and I have to qualify my opinion by saying that other meeting DV last year I don't know any of the organizers at all

Michael,
I would hesitate to say the London Show is reactionary - this will be the 5th year in a row now that there will be a show with Cobras there that weekend.
There was a gap of space where it appeared as though the event was being "moved", but I'd say the most accurate representation now is that there are merely 2 events.
One is where it's been for the past 4 years, on the same weekend. One is a new one in a new place, on the same weekend. Both should prove to be good times and have different offerings.
I don't really know much because I'm not on either group's planning committee, but have offered my services, however small they may be, to both groups, and the offer still stands - to both groups. I am fairly close in proximity to Elyria and London both.
I wouldn't hedge my bets either way on which event would be more populous - yet.

I just knew that a carefully worded reply publicly to one of our members wouldn't slip by. I Think it is accurate from the perspective of spectator and not participant that the London venue announcement was a reaction to the announcement that moved the Fling to the Cleveland area. Timeline says so. The Bloomington Gold Corvette show was held in Bloomington for years, two years ago it moved to Saint Charles, Illinos and is still referred to as the Bloomington Gold show & if several of the corvette entusiasts from Bloomington had organized a competing event on the same weekend, I'd call it reactionary.
All of that said & this isn't really the place to say it, I have my old reservations at the Hampton still in effect and new reservation in Elyria and will as I said previously I could change my mind. The only dog I have in this fight wants to go with the WCCC to a cobra event & have a great time. We don't really have much of a difference of opinion on this
Michael
