Real men race Head to Head.

So If I had an 8 second car and you had a 10 second car you would racing me head to head? I didn't think so.. the Bracket racing does give the slower guys a chance and makes it more fun for everyone which I THOUGHT was the point of it..
I mentioned that to Sid as it has worked int he past to get some more of the vette owners out on the track. if they have a stock 70s vette, which runs 14s, they would not last long..
Besides Fastest ET and fastest MPH still gets bragging rights..
I know I am not the fastest, but I would rather have fun then get beat out on the first round of eliminations.. most drag racing the pros do is close cars anyway, not a 14sec car vs a 10sec car.

Silly me I thought we were trying to see which car was fastest. Let's see:
Q: What is that trophy you've got, Fastest car?
A: Not really, It means that I was best able to predict & drive my car a certain time down the track.
Q: So it doesn't matter how fast your car is?
A: Absolutely not, it means that I predicted that I could get down the 1/4 mile at 14.0 seconds and I actually went 14.001 seconds. So I won.
Q: So who has the fastest car?
A: Don't know, some people said it was a red car, some kit car built to resemble a 1960's sports car cobbled together from an antiquated British car and one of those Ford V-8s.
At least make the trophy for low ET a little bigger than the trophy for "most consistent"

Mike, Mike, Mike. You're taking the bait. Jeff probably has a fully tubbed big block nitros injected turbocharged 89 Vette. I've seen guys pull the same thing in the pool hall. I smell shark.
A Vette with that kind of equipement has got to run a strong 13.5........
It's probably RED also.
I would prefer to go to the track next weekend just in case anybody breaks any parts. We would have time to repair before London.
Just my thoughts.

At least by taking the bait I'm playing in a real game. Bring on the Nitro. At least i"d be losing to a faster car.
I agree about next weekend. If we can get 8-10 of the "show & shine" crowd to go to Alex's school's show, I'll certainly "race" Saturday.
We could schedule the first dual event day in WCCC history. Snake & eggs followed by Byron for the racers and Snake & eggs followed by convoy to SCNHS car show. It might be possible for the racers to get to the show before it ends That would be a perfect entrance for the Victors - Riding into the show @1:45pm with 'Ride of the Valkyries" playing.

I'm sure that Sid with his 8.75 to 1 will cull out all of the stock Vettes.
Question: Am I at a disadvantage in the 60' competition if the front wheels are above the beam?
Arsenio, I'd be with you but the Cheebie guys can't make the 21st. You know I'll be there either day.

Um, have you BEEN to Byron before.. there is no way you can get 3 test passes in and then do the Bracket racing and be finished at 1:45pm. Everytime I go some Damn Ford Power things breaks down and the track is closed for an hour for clean up.. LOL
Since it does not seem to work out well for either Group for next weekend, then why no push it out until August Sept or October. I don't care either way.
I need to know for sure without a doubt by tomorrow however..
As for Nitro, don't have it don't want it, not worth the headach. Besides, if I had Nitrous my car would not be stock. which it is...
I am lucky if I run a 13.8 with a 2.2 60ft.

Test passes & Bracket Racing - therein lies the time problem.

Maybe we should have double elimination. Then the vette guys could run twice.
There has to be some 11.0 +/- vettes? Right? Isn't there? Come on you guys must have a couple of Z06s with airbox, headers and improved mufflers. That should get you pretty solidly into the 12s. Beside not every Cobra is going to beat every vette. My 60' times are going to suck, but I am hoping I can run you guys down. If not then I lose. This time at least. Pretty simple.
If we are going to bracket race I am going to kick some vette a$$ with my 300M. If they don't realize my son is only 17 I will let him do it also and my wife too (if I still had one).
Is there a Viper club around here?

Well then How would YOU LIKE to see it run????????????
Give ME Ideas.. our club meeting is this week and I can tell them what you guys would like to see.. Most of the guys going are not Hardcore racers, they go for FUN.. I had to do the bracket racing to get people to go, last year we did bracket racing with another vette club, everyone had a good time and it was FUN.
Tell me how you think the day should be handled and how everything should work... don't just reply that what I said what the problem is.. tell me how YOU would FIX it.

I like double elimination. First one through the traps wins. 1st place overall and 1, 2, 3 in both lose and no lose eliminations.
Don't let the ragging get to ya Jeff. We are really not as bad as we sound. I just can't stand those pu$$y Chevy factory guys. When Ford was out kicking some Euro butts, Chevy was really nowhere to be found. Shelby came out with the Cobra and put the early Vettes in their place and the Chebbie guys were ok with it. Too worried about reputation and losing to a chicken farmer.
I was just in the library reading an article on the new LS7. Even detuned that's one hell of an engine. In a Z06 with better headers, exhaust, airbox and tuning that's gotta be 550/550+ and 25mpg to boot. Now that's one awesome Corvette! Give the vette its due for being a great muscle car for half a century and still going.

LMAO (Pu$$y Chevy factory Guys) I assume you mean the diaper wipers, they have their OEM Corvette an keep it that way and never drive it.. I am sorry but I always thought a car was made to be driven and sometimes driven hard.. Most the guys that come out racing aren't that way, but still want a chance to have fun..
Explain how you would set up the double eliminations, how would it work?

Sorry for the attitude Jeff - it's tough to handicap cars that have either only briefly or never run at a track. No one of the WCCC is a serious racer in fact, only in our dreams. I have taken this car down the strip a total of six times and one of those was is the rain. Just line up in the other lane & race head to head, then do it again against someone else, etc.
No one has to go home or sit out. As I have posted, either day, any way I'll be there.
Sorry for scaring you Vette guys.
Michael

No, I mean when The Ford motor company took on the racing world GM was nowhere to be found. Simply put, Ford has a well respected racing heritage and GM, well they just decided to sit it out. aka pu$$ys. GM has made and still does make some great cars that is not the point. They should not have wimped out and gone to the mat for their stripes. Of course when you are facing AC Cobras, GT40s, Panteras, Dragonsnakes, LeMans Coupes, etc.. one could understand it would be intimidating.
First 2 guys race. One wins and stays in the winners bracket and the other goes to the losers bracket. Winners race winners while losers race losers untils the winner races the best loser.
Don't get us wrong, nobody here is a serious racer and we are in it for the fun and to maybe reclaim a little of our more youthful years. Other than a couple coincidences on the street I have never raced my car. We do however try to put a little effort into the cars we build and there is a certain amount of pride that goes along with that.

I say we just all show up (Cobras and Vettes) and we just line up and run. I am usually just running against myself anyways in my mind. I don't care if I line up against a faster or slower car. I only care about beating my best time (aka- I like to beat myself). We usually just get back to the staging lanes and gather in a circle and look at each others time slips anyways.
Lets not make this more complex than it should be (a bunch of cool cars that aren't use to being on a race track being driven slower than they are capable of going).
Just my thoughts.
Lets all go out there and have some fun...
