Hey I was wondering how many are planning on trailering? I think it might be easier on the new motor. Though I would ask.

I'm driving, unless it is suppose to rain the whole ride down. Then I will trailer.

That drive would be a nice easy break in period for the new motor...

Since I am traveling with 2 passengers, I will be trailering. So long as nothing goes wrong with the new motor, it would be a great break in. Not a lot of clutch action, you can vary the RPMs, stretch the horses legs a little. There are always trailers available if something should go wrong.

Yes, I shall be hooking up the trailer and turning on the A/C and set the course for London Ohio.
Mr. Sulu set the engines for warp speed.
I'll play with the cobra when I get there.
Hopefully this time on the way back I"ll try to fill up before
So I don't have to stop at 59th and Indiana Blvd. to get gas.

Hi everyone,

I'm driving to London, read: No trailer or vehicle to pull a trailer.

Incidentally, no one asked me… but I would prefer skipping breakfast and leaving early to avoid rush hour traffic, the mid day sun etc. We can always grab a bite in route or have lunch in London.

Just my two cents.

Hey y’all
I too will be driving.
I also agree with Frank about getting an early start. I am worried about getting out of the city with the construction and all. However, I may have a problem revolving around getting my co-pilot up early etc.
I was wondering if anyone would be interest in leaving the city Wednesday afternoon and driving to like Indianapolis or so then spending the evening. That would make the drive in to Columbus the next Day an easy ride. Anyway – just a thought.

I agree with Frank and Rich. Grab a bagel on the way out will be good for at least a tank of gas. Having never driven my cobra this far I don't know what to expect, but I suspect it will be bittersweet. I will follow the lead of you more experienced guys. I could probably get away with a half days work on Wednesday.

I have too much going on right now to get the car ready for track time. The biggest problem is tires. There are no decent road race/street tires for my 15" rims but there are some great road race tires for my 15s. That leads to new rims and street tires or switching tires which leads to hauling tires, which leads to trailer, which leads to truck, which all leads to money money money. With all that stuff you have a nice looking blonde like the picture in Arcy's gallery, which leads to....even more money. Then I would get caught and I would have to get rid of the truck, trailer, tires, wheels and the blonde would move on to the next shmo. Then I would be back to were I am now with a decent car and crappy tires. However, I reverse the order and ...... I have to think about this.

Anyway, my car is a real handful on those BFG T/As so I am going to have to wait.

I am starting to second guess Mid Ohio myself. I also have the T/As and still need to get the engine tuned. I also have some family issues that I am dealing with.

See Jeff, That's what happens when you have too much power. If you had a slow blue car like myself you wouldn't have to worry about the T/A's!

I feel the same way, although some guys have run the T/A's on the road track and said they feel much more stable than you would expect.

Jeffko, I had the same concerns for my first track event. Reluctantly, I attended with BFGs. Boy -O- Boy did I have a blast!!! The first thing that I noticed was that the BFGs became very sticky. After a few laps, the car was stuck to the track more than what I've ever felt on the street or autocross course. In the controlled environment, I kept pushing the car harder and harder and it just kept sticking to my suprise. It was a totally new experience and a different car with warm tires. Of course the BFGs are not a racing tire or even a sticky performance tire....but I was suprised and they offered way more performance than I could handle with my skill level. One of our club members that attended the same event, just fitted a set of Hoosier DOT and had problems all weekend. It was his first time driving on the bias ply tires which hunted and followed the contours of the track surface. He was uncomfortable with the way these tires made the car feel and didn't have enough time to get used to them at the event. These events are all about having fun with your car!

Don't wory about speed or competativeness. There will be plenty of guys that are much faster and plenty that are slower. Niether which has any impact on your own personal "fun" level. Get your car out and have some fun!!!

The rubber is just so hard! They are only bad in a critical sense. Meaning, everyday use they are fine, nostalgic and look good. They just cannot be trusted on the track to hold a line. If you hit some irregularity in the track on a relatively hard turn chances are pretty good that those tires will not hold you on the track. Same thing if you press too hard. A BDR suspension, as well with really most cobras, will far outperform those tires. You will rarely see someone smoke t/a tires unless you do a second gear drop and really lay into it.

Although I have not been there, I have heard that Mid Ohio is a pretty tough course that has a fair amount of concrete barriers. Being embarrassed about spinning out is one thing. Ending the day spinning the back end of a cobra into a barrier is quite another.

I highly recommend appropriate tires.

I ran the T/A's the entire first year I open tracked. They will be fine. I learned a lot from them. they will squeal before they let go. That is a good thing for a novice. Kind of like a warning signal "Slow Down or else" .
