No Jeff, 12.1 wasn't lucky

If you had let the line a little better and not set on the rev limiter so long you could of easily went deep into the 11s or possibly high 10s

Of course I don't have experience or knowledge of what it takes to drag race, but I might stay at a Holiday Inn Express some night

Like I said, some times your the bug and sometimes your the windsheild!

I have run my best time at Great Lakes.
11.74, 11.90
Maybe the tech on a week night is not so bad.
When I was there they were pretty set on the
arm restraints on an open body car but it was
midday Saturday and there were A LOT OF CARS !
At Byron I have not been able to muster better than a 12.1?

Snake oil

I think you will run a lot quicker this time at Byron

In fact you might get tossed for being too quick,

Jerry

The first thing out of the tech guys mouth was about arm restraints. I told him we would not be very fast (little did I know) and talked him into 3 runs. I know, shame on me for running 5. He didn't say anything about the roll bar and Kelly had on a short sleeved shirt.

The grove track may very well be stickier and my problem in more likely getting used to the limited slip vs the old open diff. Kinda like raw horsepower vs turbo lag. Sorry Arcy, I couldn't resist.

The only time I hit the rev-limiter was at the last trap trying not to shift to 4th. Frankly I don't know which is better since you loose time with both. I tried to hit all my shifts between 5500 and 6000. The limiter is set to 6400. The last run with the Z06 I spun 1st and grabbed 2nd early at the 60' or so and then went sideways. I backed off just a little and drove into it so it didn't turn out too bad, but again lost time to traction or rather lack of.

I didn't want to spend the money on drag radials and rims, but it looks like I will have to if I want any better times.

Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah.

Just kidding. Sounds like you guys had a good time. I think I ate another intake gasket tonight. Looks like it will be a long week ahead trying to fix her for the trip to Byron.

Why do you guys think this has happened twice this year? Any suggestions?

Chris, I had to retorque my manifold bolts 3 times before they finally held the correct torque amount. I think the last time was when I had 250 miles and they were off by 5 to 10 lbs. There is seemingly a lot of crush in those gaskets.

What I'm saying is that you could be loosing your seal due to insufficient compression on the gasket or enough loss to allow erosion of the gasket. The only thing else I think it may be is a warped surface, which is possible but doubtful.
