C6 Z06 = 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds on street tires. I wanna see how many of your Cobras can beat that! I'm sure there are a few, but I bet most won't. . .

I'm not into Vettes but was wondering, is that 1966 technology?

Correction
rsimoes, chebbies official literature for the '07' Z06 with the Z51 performance package states the 0-60 @ 4.54 and the 1/4 mile as 12.4 at 125.7. I would say we have more than 10 cars that can best that. If the guy comes modified we still have 5 or 6 cars that are solidly in the 11s and one at 12.1 I think we had about 17 cars at the track earlier that day, when the vettes were supposed to show up and run but none did, so with 10 over 17 actually most did. (outrun the stated Z06 1/4 mile time)
We would actually like to have some results of Cobra vs Vette, but none of us are willing to go out and buy one just to find out. Sorry Fred. Don't get me wrong I like some Vettes and the Z06 is an outstanding machine. Where can you get that kind of tech and performance for less than 70k? The next closest thing is a Viper at 85k. For less than 40k I will stick with the low tech raw power of my Cobra and why?? because it's SEXY...and the chics dig it

I heard from a wise man that the red corvettes are faster than the blue corvettes. Just the opposite of the cobra family.

Chris, I suppose you also believe in the tooth fairy? Haven't you realized that it was your dad dressed in his favorite pink liederhosen and wearing Saint Mary's wings?

After the drag race, maybe you can take the Vette group out for some open track competition. Elkhart has a nice 4.1 mile course that is good for getting the adrenaline pumping.

we're having enough trouble gettin the Corvette guys to drive 50 miles for a morning thrashing on a 1/4 mile dragstrip. I don't think they'd follow up with a 2 1/2 hour drive for more of the same.

Interesting, as the current Corvette is the C6--there's no such thing as a C7. I think you're looking at stats for a base, non-Z06 C6 with the Z51 suspension package.
Per Car and Driver, 12/05: Stock Z06 0 - 60 mph: 3.4 seconds. 1/4 mile: 11.8 at 125 mph.
I've owned several Cobra replicas, big and small-block, and have driven a C5 Z06 on the track and my own 420 rwhp '99 'Vette on the street. The Cobra is a wonderful car for a cruise, and is fine for straight-line bursts of speed, but the 'Vette is simply a superior high-performance car. Hell, it's got to be--it's got forty years of technology over a Cobra.

Arcy, based on the same premise wouldn't there be an add for the turbo?
snakeeyes, the quote was for a 2007 Z06, besides car and driver is a french publication and everyone knows that they run faster than everyone else.
I wonder what Gurney, Bondurant, Mills and others would think about the superior performance thing? Maybe they were beating Corvairs instead of Corvettes?

He's right, I own a C-5 Z06. I love my 427 Cobra but the vette is a superior car in almost every catagory with the exception of turning heads.

Plus the discussion is what some other driver was able to do with some other car. Even the out of staters don't line'em up.
