Oct"Cobra"fest Starting Location & Time
We have 25 WCCC members expressing interest in this Saturday's (10/07)Oct"Cobra"fest Rally! That's a lot of snakes on the road! Some of you club members without running snakes at the moment are still welcome to attend as co-pilot seats are available or you can bring an optional vehicle.
While I've waited as long as I can for the weather forecast to change, sunny with temps around 70 is the best I can do. So, those of you willing to brave those elements need to meet at the Kildeer Countryside School, 3100 Old McHenry Rd. in Long Grove Illinois 60047. Time 9:30am SHARP! The rally and all the festivities should conclude by about 5:00pm in southern Wisconsin.
A couple things you might want to bring along if you have them would be walkie talkies that you could use with your team, cell phone, a compass, a co-pilot that can read or bring your reading glasses and lounge chairs for the picnic.
Everyone needs to top off your tank before arriving as no time for gas stops has been allocated during the rally phase which is a little over 100 miles in length from the starting point. A voluntary $10 (correct change please) per car fee is being solicited for contribution to the rally pot which will be awarded in its entirety to the winning teams at the conclusion of the rally. Looking forward to a great safe day! See you Saturday!

I'am so confident in your weather prediction that we aren't even going to bring our soft top. Thanks for the invite. We live in wisconsin and the colors are just changing.

Hi everyone,
The long-range weather forecast for Saturday’s WCCC Cobra Fest looks perfect, sunny with temperatures in the upper 60’s and no rain. Sounds ideal for our backcountry road gimmick rally. (I hope I didn’t jinx us!)
So top off your tank, polish your car, and get ready cause the WCCC is going cruising.
See everyone Saturday.

I don't know Frank, what happens if we don't polish our cars.
I wouldn't wanna be called a fender waxer.

Mine is (# removed). If I don't answer because of the noise of the exhaust, leave a message and I'll call you when we stop. Call me right now or before we leave at 8:30 AM and you'll be more likely to get a hold of me.

Now……… “THAT MY FRIENDS, WAS A GOOD TIME.....”
Now……… “THAT MY FRIENDS, WAS A GOOD TIME.....”
My hair is in knots, I'm sunburned and wind-burned, I've lost another 5% of my hearing, my entire body is still vibrating......I smell of exhaust and road grime, and the smoke from the grilling at the picnic.....and only just now did the feeling start to come back in my frozen fingers....
What a way to pull the curtain on the 2006 driving season with the WCCC.....
Thanks to Gary's entire Family & Fred and Sue for all their efforts....and also to those still out there collecting the casualties from todays event....... you guys really out-did yourselves this time.....
I'm going to bed............

What a great day!!!
I left Sterling at 4:30 this morning and returned home at 7:30 tonight.
Fred, Sue, Gary, et al.: Thanks again for all your hard work. The weather and scenery were beautiful and it ws great to see everybody together.
Sandy got a call while we were at the park and had to go to work, so I dropped him off and headed for home. It did get a little chilly on the way back to Sterling but I made it back without putting the top up.
I have somebody's walkie talkie. Fred's maybe? If you email me I'll UPS it to you.
Thanks again,
Lowell

What a great day!
Thanks Gary & Fred (and family) for putting together an excellent event. It sure was a lot of fun.
I agree Marty, "The season isn't over until we say it is over!" "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor ........
Isn't Indian Summer just beginning????
I'll have to clean the bugs off the windshield and take the cobra out for a spin today with the weather in the mid 70's. Just another outstanding day like yesterday.

Excellent Day!
Thanks Gary, Fred and families. In fact without your families doing all the scoring and hard work, this would not have been as great as it was. Except for the few breakdowns it could not have been more perfect.
Ralph
PS Will now go and do a little cruising while the sun is shining!

Just wanted to say thanks for the invite and we are glad we made the trip, well as much as we had time for ! The Wife had to work at 4:30 so we didn't make the picnic Too much happened on that day to make the entire cruise, but we managed to get three or four hours of seat time in the car..
Weather is looking more like crap this week, but if the weekend shapes up I'm free to lay down some rubber if anybody wants to get rowdy!
And being one of the few, if not the only Wisconsinite to join the club, it may be incumbent upon me to plan a cruise here in wisconsin for you guys. I know some twisty roads and fun destinations you may have not been to before. If that sounds like a possibility, I will get started mapping out a cruise right away just in case we have an Indian summer in the next week or two!

What a Great Day
Great ride. Robin and I met some Great People on Saturday. Team 4 was outstanding-we were able to sit back and enjoy the ride. Sorry we couldnt make the Picnic at the end. We look forward to enjoying the next club event.
were on our way to Florida for Biker Octoberfest. They tell me the weather is in the mid 80's and sun is out. Wish you all could join us.

Hi everyone,
First of all, a resounding thank you to Gary, Fred and their families for putting together the extremely popular WCCC Cobra Fest. The clues were challenging, the scenic back county roads twisty and fun to drive, the weather ideal and the picnic a perfect ending for another great WCCC event. Thanks again everyone!!!
The Cobra Fest was my daughter’s first cobra ride; first WCCC experience and she had a great time. When my car “broke” in Lake Geneva, she was extremely impressed when fifteen cobras pulled out of the rally, stopped and attempted to get us back on the road. Although unsuccessful, the car was ultimately trailered to Joe’s house after the picnic; she commented on the WCCC’s members’ loyalty and dedication to help. She’s absolutely correct; you’re a great group of cobra owners, certifiable car nuts and I’m proud to call you all my friends.
My personal thanks to Bob for trailering my car to Joe’s house; and he wouldn’t even let me buy him gas!!!!! What a guy. To Lowell, Mike, Fred, Rich, Jeff, Eric, etc., for your mechanical expertise, tools and willingness to help a fellow cobra owner. To the Bull Valley Police Department for not issuing any WCCC member a ticket. And to Keith, for his NCLB motto, for watching over all WCCC members ensuring everyone had fun and a safe trip home.
I don’t know how I can ever repay everyone for your help; I owe you all big time. You are a great group of people and I'm delighted that life path has crossed each and every one yours.
Thanks again,
Frank

A great day and then a not so great day.
Thanks Gary, Fred and family. I just wanted to say my friend Javier and I had a great time. Thanks to everyone who came, it makes the day even more enjoyable when we can get as many club members together at one event. I should have kept my big mouth shut when I said team 2 knows how to build them and run them. That little comment came back to bite me in the behind in a hurry. I took the car out on Sunday after a quick cleaning and drove a couple of miles and heard a very bad sound from the drive shaft. I turned the car around and limped home thinking of my stupid comment the whole way.(STUPID,STUPID,STUPID). it turns out the tailshaft bearing is bad due to severe angle of the drive shaft. The drive shaft was binding and I think I have it figured out. It won't be easy to fix on my car as the crossmember is welded in. RAT FINK COBRA (Pete)
