Getting the car painted
All right guys,
I have a few questions, first I need to start planing to get my cobra painted. I was wondering where a good place to take it would be? IM not looking for show, I want it to look nice, but it needs to be affordable, because I have limited funds. I guess that's what happens when you build at 20. Also I was wondering if anyone had a fuel pressure regulator, that I could buy off of them. I need it for a carb, and it need to adjust down to 6 psi.
Thanks,
Mike Lewin

This kid appears to be quite intelligent at 20...
I'll say he paints it RED....
He knows he'll get the reduced membership rate if he joins the WCCC....
Why pay extra with that OTHER color....

If your using a HIGH PRESSURE fuel injection type electric pump be advised it is difficult to reduce that pressure to 6 psi with a 'cheap' readily available fuel pressure regulator. You'll need a really good one.
On a budget? How about MACO?

First im going with a dark green color, it sucks I know, its going to cost alot more to get in the club. But its the color my dad would want. Secondly I need the regulator for a carb set up with an aftermarket holley pump, so im only going from 10psi down to 6psi. So anyone got a regulator or any other painting suggestions.
Thanks guys,
Mike Lewin

inexpensive paint job
Hey, valspar makes a colored primer you could paint it with! Or you could always get some implement paint... Just kidding! What color of stripes were you thinking of going with?

I want the stripes to be gunmetal. It should tie everything together, because I have gunmetal wheels. I still need to look at paints to find the correct colors though.
Thanks,
Mike

Hey, Dad's green is good....
You won't get the fully discounted WCCC club joiners rate...and the club condo keys and the sail boat use won't be available to you on any Friday's with a full moon...
But you won't pat the penalty for that OTHER color....

I had my SCJ Mach painted up at Hot Rod Haus in Trevor WI.
Dave (the owner) does great work. I can also recommend talking to Jon at Preventix in Mundelein for other painter suggestions. He's done work for me and does alot of restoration work.

Mike, I have one you can have. I also have a few fittings and such. Call me or Kelly since I can't find your number. I actually know of a painter also.

Mike, that's the trouble with only being 20, if you wait until your 21st birthday, you don't have to take your dad's suggestion anymore!
Seriously, Mike, I wish I could have worried about painting a Cobra Replica at age 20. Wait a minute, they were all REAL when I was 20.
