Default Gingerman race track?

Has any one been to South Haven, Gingerman race track?
If I don't break something at Byron (other than the club ET record)
I'm headed up there on that Monday(5/14)

Any feedback would be cool.

Hey Chris,
Got the car back yet? If not you can help me work on mine

Glen

We have been there many times with the karts--have set fast time most times we were there--you need to talk to Corey about the track layout as most corners have segment with changing radii
I think he ran a 1:20:09 up there, at the time the only thing quicker was Paul Tracy in a champ car(around 1999 0r 00 )
Bumpy in the hard brake zones

Default Gingerman is a great track!

I've been to Gingerman with my Viper many times. I've also raced my 911 there and had a blast running there. It is a great track and will be very fun for a Cobra. The track is tough on tires though. It is a rough surface texture that is really prone to wearing tires fast. There is only one turn that you can get out of shape and hit anything on (that is turn 10). The pit wall is there at trackout so you just dont want to push too hard there. Gingerman is a fairly buisy track to drive with alot of corner and not too much straight. From turn 9 to 10 is the place where you'll really feel the speed, watch out the braking zone for turn 10 is a bit uneven so you want the car settled there. It is a really safe and fun track to race and I think you'll love it! Have fun! Aron

My first time at Gingerman a gentleman ended up... upside down in the sand trap coming out of turn 10. Not a place to change your mind.
If you set up your entry right, it's one terrific place to work your pedal to the metal. Forget "60 foot times." Doing a four wheel drift from your turn in point, to the apex, to the exit point curbbing with your right foot on the floor and your speed climbing all the way down the front straight 'till the road starts to fall away from your tires and you have to engage your breaks for turn one... now that's living! And you get to do it again, and again, and again...
Very fun and forgiving track. and great people.

Hey guys,
I think we are going to be running the track backwards.
I'm going up there with about 25 bikers and about 10 cars.
A friend of mines father in law is an instructor at the track
and I'm trying to hook up with him.
Upside down in the sand trap Thanks!

You don't want to run a race track backwards as the run-off areas/ sand traps, etc are all designed for only one direction---

Jerry, apparently you don't know Glen very well, he claims he's Bi-directional!

Glen,

What group are you running with?

If you're interested we're doing two days (one day on each track) at Autobahn 5/5 and 5/6... with CAROC and NSCC. They run a great event.

For those interested in touring It's available each day at lunch time. check their website for info: http://www.caroc.com/events

David,
Autobahn was great. Thanks for all the help you gave me last year on the North track. It would be fun to get on the South track, let alone both together. I might just try touring the south this year.
Nice thing it's close to home, about 7mi.

Family plans during this event but I will be with CAROC at Blackhawk on July 2. Any Cobras going to that? Also, Northwoods Shelby will be at Road America 8/17-8-19 and at Autobahn 9/29-10/1. Also a great event.

I hope to have my Cobra on the road and be able to run the CAROC event 7/2 at Blackhawk as my shakedown event. If all goes well, I will run most of the remaining NASA and Shelby events.

Jim
