London trip vehicle inspection - free
On Saturday, June 9 - the second annual pre road-trip vehicle inspection day. All of those traveling to London that would like to put their car on a lift, check condition of undercar items, perform minor maintenance, have a few "amateur-experts" assist in correcting minor problems, perhaps avoiding a breakdown during the trip are welcome to participate. At the very least, a thorough inspection will help create some confidence for the ride.
Attendees will also receive the full dose of comradarie for which WCCC is famous (or not).
Sunday, June 10 will be rain date & the following Saturday, 6/16 will be the emergency rain date.
All who wish to change oil - bring your oil and filter with you as we have a new drain fixture this year & you will be automatically entered into the oil recycling lottery which is also a newly added, exciting feature for this year's event.
Don't pay too much attention to Ralph's post on the other thread, we all know that he is perfectly capable of crashing without any assistance. - Besides he has his own lift.
It's pretty much "first come, first serve" but Marty gets preferred treatment cause he's providing food.
I'm an early riser, so anytime from 8:00 AM on is fine. Post here if you plan on attending, Marty needs a head count for the steaks & lobsters.

When is the poker run? Is it still on the 9th like the schedule says?
Otherwise I will be there.
I'll take two lobsters and four steaks (medium).
Yum, Yum, Yum.

Mike
Do you still need someone to stand around and drink beer and make inane comments? You know the job for which I usually volunteer.
Remember the motto - it's noon somewhere

OK the date now suggested is Jun 10th with a rain date of Jun 16. For those participating in the poker run on Saturday, you could make the St. Charles Monster Garage your last stop & have the potential of witnessing the fantastic skill demonstrated during the late afternoon, evening, and nightime goings-on. Or Sunday after 10:00 AM for the unadventurous among you.
And Rich, you will always be entitled to be the stand/drink/inane comment guy whenever you wish. Otherwise I usually have to serve that function & I'm usually not able to provide the inane comment part without offending someone. The standing & drinking part comes natural.

Chris,
Actually, I think we have served our time. Well, at least I have. We are now allowed to be in the same room so long as Wolfe wears that thing on his ankle. I on the other hand have fulfilled my community service requirements -however, I believe the court ordered restrictions relating to Red Cars, still applies.

Got it.
Next time I'll get it right.
Off to Algonquin for lunch with "Marty's Friends"
Yummy!!!
See you Sunday. Watch out for the Biker Mamma. I heard she made it out of prison and is looking for you. And they said they didn't see the bazooka. Huh.

Mike: I will plan on stopping by Sunday weather permitting. Just so I don't explore too much of the western suburbs trying to find you guys, is the address what's in the directory? Thanks.

One block west of the end of the earth. Make sure you gas up; you don't want to be in the same glass box we put Wolfie in. Wolfie want a cracker?
Marty are the girls from Algonquin waitressing? I'll make sure I bring a stack of singles.
FYI: F1 Race at Noon that day. Mike you got SPEED right???

Dr Mike,
Are doing the Poker Run to Starved Rock? If not may I stop by Saturday - is that okay? I think I have a short that needs to be run down. I drain a fully charged battery in a couple of days. God, I hate to run down short citcuits. They are a major PITA for me to find.
Either way, I believe I need a new battery and it does take a couple of extra hands to get them mounted. If not I'll do it Sunday

Planning on the poker run, Kim has a possible conflict, we may hook up along the way with the group. Seems to me the run is basically over around 2:00 or so, I'll be home anyway by say 3:30 or thereabouts. Or Sunday, After 1000 hrs unless you want to drink coffee & read the paper as that is the agenda b4 10.

The His & Hers cars are ready for London so the garage space is available for guests all day Sunday. No rain date required per Tommy Skilling. Looks like a great day for a country ride even if no work needs be done on your car. Hope to see you all there.

Okay, let me get this straight; even no one needs anything done to their cars - Do I still get to stand around and drink beer and make and make inane comments ? You know my usual job - is it still there?

Yeah still there. Plus we can make up some rules for how we deal with those who break down on the Ohio trip that haven't availed themselves of the opportunity to catch a simple problem tomorrow. Plus they will miss the inanity that will prepare them for the much larger dose they will witness in London.
See you tomorrow

Dr Mike
Once again you provided a very valuable service. I know how a little preventive maintenance can go a long way to making the London trip that much easier and more enjoyable. Just getting under your car and looking things over can bring a whole confidence and positive state of mind to a driver – especially a builder/driver.
Now really like your idea about rules for the non-believers that may have issues on the Ohio trip – what to do; what to do.
I for one really needed the beer drinking practice – I believe you helped me more than I can express in words. Thank you.

Welcome of course, Rich. The London trip has officially begun with the soon to become "traditional" kickoff with the PM get-together. Most of the regulars came, some sans cobra but were valiant (and valued) participants. I hope we didn't scare Tim too much. Ralph behaved pretty well. Bob's clutch makes pulling on the lift exciting. I'm saving my inane comments for Ohio, although I'm sure I let a few slip on Sunday.
Tow strap for the non attendees
