Default Ed's build thread

Well I should be picking up my chassis, rear-end and other phase 1 components on September 8th. So I thought I'd start this thread to track the progress and also to ask all the stupid questions I'm going to have.

First round of questions are... (kit is coming from Classic Roadsters II)

1) I'm going to need front and rear suspension components (upper and lower control arms, front and rear coil overs). Any recommendations?

2) Front and rear disc brake kits.

(For those of you that don't remember. I'm doing this without the use of a donor car)

Many Thanks in advance!!!

Ed,

Before you buy anything let me know I have plenty of brand new parts for two previous builds. Everything from coil overs to upper control arms and a lot of things in between.

No matter what you buy or who you buy it from be sure to ask the brand. It makes a big differance. PM me and I can tell you why.

OK finally!!!

I fly into Minneapolis this Thursday morning, rent a truck, drive to Classic Roadsters and pick up my phase 1 chassis kit, along with the rear end and a few extras I purchased from them . Can't wait to get started...

Anybody have a recommendations for a good engine builder, somewhat local to the Chicagoland area?

Ed

Well... After driving through a thunder storm (driving sheets of rain and penny size hail) from hell 20 miles east of Sauk Centre MN. I made it to Classic Roadsters and loaded up my chassis phase, alone with a newly rebuilt 9" rearend and some other goodies.

Now what the hell do I do

Need to get the exhaust ceramic coated and have a few pieces that need powder coating.

Has anybody used Lo-Ko in Oaklawn for ceramic/powder coating?

Thanks,

Ed

Lo-Ko has been used by a least a half dozen guys in our club and all have said good things about their work. Maybe Jerry gets a discount from Performance because of a higher volume of business he sends, but they were considerably more expensive when I inquired about pricing, compared to what Lo-Ko charged me.

Thanks Ralph!

I posted some pics of my frame (head a couple of lines north in the thread) you should be able to see the difference comparing mine to yours. Remember I was trying to explain how they dropped the seat pans down in the newer version.

capteddie, I noticed that you posted that you sent me a PM. I never received it. If you would like to try again I will see if I receive it. I will PM you my phone number if you want and you can call me or get me yours and I'll call you. That way it will be on my dime.

redsnake351, Sure PM me and I will respond. I know you are trying to be funny but I have been accused of bashing for a couple of things that I have posted on CC and other sites and I would rather disscuss by PM. There is enough bashing going on already. It doesent need to be added to.

Ok....

Starting to make some progress. The frame and body are in the garage and all the powder/ceramic coating that I need at this stage has been done.

Todays big news is....

The engine is done!!! 470hp and 530fpt (is that right for foot pounds of torque)

I've put some engine build pics and a quicktime of one of the dyno pulls on

www.ferguson-motorsports.com

Now if the weather would warm up a bit, I could start wrenching things together.

Great looking engine and frame. I look forward to hearing more about your build.
