We have been considering going on Sunday. Breakfast at 9 am would be good. I think the auction opens at 10 am.

I've been avoiding it for fear I'd buy something.

That I probably don't need and can't afford...

OK, guys, did you buy anything? I thought there were a couple of original Cobras on the auction block.

No Ralph

We left Friday about noon to take an engine to a customer in SC who is a Marine and is leaving for Iraq in a few days--Corey and I swapped driving back and forth, slept at a rest stop for about 3 hours along Ky/Tn border ( there were so many deer along road we wanted to stop till daylight) Just laid around Sunday, didn't ever put any shoes on.

Default Cobra Roadster Auction Sale

The 289 Cobra Roadster sold quickly at the Mecum Auction for $600,000. The bidding started at $150,000 and got to $600,000 in probably less than two minutes. The car was an absolute #1. Some guy over the phone bought it. Was it you Ralph?
Other Shelby stuff went off. Probably the best buy was a 68 Shelby GT 500 at around $75,000 but it needed some work. The Shelby 66 GTH Hertz black and gold Mustang, got close to $150, 000 but didn't hit the reserve. A lot of the other Shelby stuff did not sell and will probably show up at Barrett Jackson this winter. Nice stuff but the prices are still really high for the quality rides.
A 69 GTO Ram Air IV convertible car went for $350,000. I must have missed something on that one. Superbirds and Daytona's went from $250,000 to almost $500,000. There were three Shelby Continuation Series cars by Legendary GT. Beautiful recreations of a 65 and 67 GT 350 and 500 Mustangs. The bidding got to $120,000 on basically a clone but registered by Shelby. They didn't hit the reserves which were around $140,000, for not the real thing mind you!!!!

It seemed only about 50% of the cars actually sold unless some people got them after they left the stage.

We went there on Sunday and I saw a green without strips Superformance that didn't sell on Saturday. The owner want $42K. We also saw the 289 still sitting there. Very nice. I was interested in a 57 Vett that didn't have a rating so I though it would sell, can i say cheap? It sold for $102,000. More than I want to spend.

Do you recall what happened to the Challenge CSX 4190 Yellow Cobra?
