Eagle Cave
Drove the cobra to the scout event at Eagle Cave. Took about 3.5 hrs of back roads to cover 155 miles of some very beautiful country. Hit the southwest side of Lake Geneva and ran up to the Kettle Moraine area and then over towards Madison, had to hop on the 39/90 for about 1/2 hour and then got off just north of Madison and headed west towards and along the Wisconsin River on perfect blacktop through valleys and over hills past some really picturesque farms. The weather was perfect and the fall colors really added to the scenery. We have got to make this a ride for next year. The cave would not be to most people's liking, but I was thinking that Baraboo is only 45 minutes further. If you never been to Devil's Lake you are really missing something. It is as nice as any park I have seen in the California Sierras. Great hiking, canoeing, camping and a great bar just 1/2 mile from the north entrance and camping area. The bar is one of those drinking club bars with 100 different beers. This would be worth taking a Friday off work. Anyway, just a thought and/or something to look forward to.

OK,ok Jeff, that 100 beer bar sounds great, so this can't be an official WCCC event.
Sounds like another over-nighter in a tent for me. Last weekend at Elkhart Lake it was so warm that my dog didn't even come into the tent.

Jeff: Great pix, are the roads thru the park "Cobra friendly"? If they are, it would be a great trip. The other thing that caught my attention in your post was about California. Peg and I just got back from a trip to both the Napa and Sonoma valleys. Those northern CA cobra guys are so lucky - great roads to tear around on and lots of cool stop points. We even got to follow a cobra for a couple of miles, he got some open road and poof! he was gone.

Jeff,
We will need to put this destination on the events calendar for next year. There sure are some nice back roads up in Wisconsin. Last weekend the trip up to Road America along 175 heading northwest from Milwaukee towards Fond Du Lac and then onto 67 northeast to Elkhart Lake was really nice. On top of it all, Mother Nature blessed us with some terrific weather. Maybe she will be kind to us for a few more weeks. I can't believe I saw Sid talking about putting the cobra in storage. He must have a fever or something. He is not thinking straight.

We go camping at Devil's Lake every year - it is our favorite! As far a cobra friendly roads... definitely! Go through Lodi and take 113 up to the ferry at Merrimac. A very fun road! Plus you can get ice cream while you are waiting for the ferry. I don't think there would be clearance issues with the ferry, but I haven't tried it in the cobra. Hang out at the beach at the lake and soak up the "sights". Even take a side trip out to natural bridge state park.
A very cool part of Wisconsin!

Sid has been a little nucking futs lately. Hopefully he will snap out of it for Toy for Tots. Who can forget him driving around with that pony in his car?
Galla4, I lived in California for most of my life and oh how I would have loved to had a cobra back then!
Zip, great idea to up to Devil's lake across 19 then up 12 and back down 133 over the lake would be very cool. This would be great around June next year.

Great job, way to drive the car. I've heard those are nice roads.
