What a great race for the track. What happened to all you guy? Chicken out? Two members out of, what is it now 85 members, show up. We had lane #10 for just Al and me. I did my usual thing, hit the rep limited and miss the shifts. Its not easy to make a 11 second car run in the 13's. Don't know why its so hard to watch the tach.

Warren

Try a shift lite

You start off with a lower msd chip and move up as you progress--nobody uses a tach that is mounted down in the dash

You use a rpm setting on the lite that is below your rev limiter chip so that the delay in the shift doesn't put the engine into overrev

On the BA/A the shifts are at 9500 with trap rpm right on or over 10,000 with a recorded driveshaft speed of about 9000 as a result of trana slippage. We are running aprox 195-197 and the prostocks with 5 speed manual without slippage are running about 10mph faster

You might find one of the drag racing schools fun---go run there cars and get some training---come back to Bryon run 10's , get kicked out for no cage, smile all the way home

Ask Santa---

Warren, if your time slip is anything like mine your 60' times is 2 seconds or better. Kinda hard to get a good et spending 15-20% of your time on less than 5% of the track. The cure is more practice on better tires like drag radials.

Well, I think in the future I'll just enjoy watching the drags. I know the car is wicked fast. As I as standing my my car one of the bikes racers came over to tell me how awsome he thought my car was and he summed it up by saying, "I can't believe your racing this SHOW car." That felt as good as if I could have run in the 10's

Warren , Lets face it we are old and slow ,do what I did and ask a young club member to run it down the strip and collect the time sheet to show your non club members the ticket < they will assume you were driving > it works for me .

You are 100% correct---you know what your car is and I agree with the biker--it is a show car but its owned and driven by a guy that is proud of it, gives it the best of care, and nobody disputes its credentials. Every one that saw it at our place spoke about how nice it was--- something different from the what color stripes are on your red or blue car?

As these cars and modern powerplants have evolved, the package has left the 40 year old car with suspension from the 40's in the history books. More people would be buying the SP and BDR roller/turnkeys except that they want the comfy, air conditioned, roofs of the vettes and vipers.

Jeff

I been thinking about your analise of the run time---I have come to the conclusion that about all of drag racing falls in that parameter---15-20% time 5% distance
For example the BA/A 1.0 60 ft 7.0 second 1/4
Got to get some top fuel current numbers

Exactly, you can't leave all that torque going up in smoke! The rest of the race is easy. However, until I get a better rearend I am stuck with it.

The top fuelers and funny cars almost fit that numerical profile also---guess we just need an $80.000 slipper clutch and management unit!!!

Sorry I missed you guys; sounds like fun. A working weekend for me, as it turned out, I could just as well have gone to Byron and nobody would have missed me but ya never know...

Nice times, Al!

What's all this talk about "rear ends" ? I never want to see a rear end at the drag strip, but I sure like to show mine!!!

Wolf
Showing your rear-end when you are in drag---------- it will lead to trouble.
