Very nice.
I agree with ealier comment re front grill - this is perhaps the first one I've seen that I really like. Beautiful smooth edge detail.
By the way - what's that remote unit behind the satnav?

The grille was done very cleverly...it has two "wells" that the vertical mounts slip into, then there are two brackets on the top secured by socket head screws. Two screws, the grille pulls out and swings up to remove it.
You can't really see it, but the top surfaces of each aluminum grille bar are brushed, where the forward surfaces are polished. Reallly looks beautiful.
I think he has his garage door opener behind the GPS. There is a shift light to the left.
You should see the detail under the hood....

In my book, any replica maker is great. My point has nothing to do with the brand of replica maker. Just confused as to why the car has to be reinvented and redesigned by so many people. To be a "replica" I think you at least need to make an attempt to "replicate".

Blas, don't make my comment to be something that it is not. What I was saying was not a detailed originality critique. It was a spirit of the original comment. A point on the difference between making an "attempt" to replicate vs. deciding to redesign or "improve" the car, something that I will just never understand.
However if you are asking about the indicator lights on the front of my car, yes those are original Lucas indicators from a CSX car in the correct amber color.

Boy, that was a pompous statement on many levels.
First, please don't turn this thread into an accuracy contest.
The originator was quite right in pointing out that builder's attention to detail in the many handcrafted pieces of his car.
Attention to "detail" does not necessarily mean attention to "accuracy"; he has merely commented on the craftsmanship.

Richsd, personal preference understood, but ya know what, that's one of the beauties of the Cobra, no two originals were exactly alike as they were all hand built. There is room for all of us in the hobby and I for one can appreciate any of them, from the most accurate copy, the real thing, the odd balls and even the double ugly wannabees, check out the old one in my photos, it's been the closest thing to a real one in Indonesia for the past 45 years. Enjoy your car, its a beauty and it shows how much you put your heart into it. A heap of other folks here have put the same time and effort into their cars too, just in a bit different direction. But hey, let's all live and let live here. Life's too short.

Looks like the confusion is between "replica" and "replicate. Each and every one of the Cobras owned here (with very few exceptions) are "replicas" but a minutely small group of us set out to "replicate" in spite of it being so subjective. To replicate down to each and every dirty detail would seem to be an attempt to try to pass the vehicle off as an "original". You'd be open to extreme criticism at at that point. As long as you can handle that, it's OK too...
This is why most of us customize our "replicas". And some even go so far as to put six cylinder engines and single exhaust into our "replicas". Can you imagine!
Authenticity and originality all have their places in this hobby. That's strictly a choice by the owners and anything in-between. No need to criticize.

Yes I am on CSXinfo.net and SAAC. Just try to give this forum a try every once in a while with hopes that I won't be aggrevated but always seem to be.
And by the way, I thought a "forum" was meant to be a forum for people to express their thoughts. I did not know I had to conform to a certain opinion in order to comment. Maybe I just needed to write "Hmmmmm" like CobraEd so you don't know exactly what I think. Did Ed mean "Hmmmmm, that is really cool why didn't I think of that?" or did he mean "Hmmmmm, what the hell was he thinking?". Or did Robert mean "Cupholders, now I have seen it all.. and that is really a great idea" or "Cupholders, now I have seen it all.. and what the hell was he thinking?" I don't know for sure what they meant but I have a pretty good guess. The differnece is that you didn't have to read between the lines with my comment. Again, this was not an accuracy comment. This was a comment on the difference between making an attempt to replicate vs. redesign the Cobra and my opinion on the redesigning and "improving" approach. I will try to keep such outrageous opinions to myself in the future.

I hear you on the point that Cobras were all different and that is part of the beauty. I get that this may lead to further enhancements to the car and that some want to take this to a new level. You say that you can appreciate all types of "Cobras". I understand that this is how you feel but I just do not feel the same way and never will. Again, this is my opinion. I don't expect that we will all have the same opinion. I am actually glad that we don't all have the same opinion. But I would hope that I could express my opinion on a forum. It seems like this is not the case here.

However, when you hijack an existing thread, simply to offer your own personal opinion, well, that comes down to etiquette, and you'll get some resistance - as you have observed. That's not what the forums are all about.
