Default Amboy Car Show - August 30

If you only go to one car show this year, you should go to Depot Days in Amboy, Illinois on Sunday, August 30. Buddy Neely's Cobra is featured on their Depot Days t-shirt this year. They will have t-shirts with WCCC on them for our club members. Please let me know if you are planning to attend. We need to get an actual count of attendees by August 23rd so they know how many special t-shirts to make. This is a great car show! Of course, I think so since I won a first place trophy last year and David Schlagman won second place. Amboy has a quaint downtown with lots of little shops so the women will have something to do also. There will be pre-registration forms available at the Club picnic on August 8 or if you want me to send you one, let me know.

So far these are the people signed up to go:

Buddy & Barb Neely
Reed & Linda Chester
Dave & Leslie Schlagman
Bob & Dayle Brown

Several people showed interest either at Fuddruckers on Thursday evening or at the Club Picnic. Please let me know if you will be coming - we need a count soon for "free t-shirts".

Thanks!

Bob

Default Sounds good - hope it's better than some of the ones this weekend

Barb's car was sweet at Byron!

I ended up at a car show this weekend, it was great. I placed and walked away with a nice size trophy, but there was another guy who owned a Cobra who is not in the WCCC. He ran around telling everyone that all Superformance used original parts and was a "real" cobra and that my Backdraft was a kit car (although he had never heard of Backdraft). When I tried to explain to him that they both are rolling chassis cars from South Africa, he told me I didn't know was talking about and that Superformance is the only one out of South Africa and they use all "original" parts. I politely tried to explain the licensing agreement they had with Shelby, but that the parts are new and offered pulled up Superformance's web site on my phone to show him that Superformance advertises that there are no "used parts" and most parts are engineered in house... He wasn't interested.

I told him he had a sweet ride and invited him to join the club and do some research on these cars. He thanked me by going around and telling people that my car was a piece of %@$ cheap imitation kit car, not to vote for mine and he had the real deal. He also told me and everyone else that his Roush 342r was really a 427 and that it had 540hp at the wheels.
I shook his hand told him nice to meet him and waited for people to come up to me to let me know that he was badmouthing all non-Superformance Cobra's. I literally had 6 people tell me. One of which was could not stop laughing at the guys ignorance. Then, he walked away with the "best-in-show" for his "real" Cobra... I am glad a Cobra won the show, just wished it was under different circumstances. So be on the lookout for Joe with his white Cobra with Lamborgini orange stripes. Nice car, but the driver...well...let's just say I like the car better. I'll try to buy him a beer next time, life's too short to argue.

So far we have these people signed up who are bringing their cars:

Buddy Neely
Barb Neely
Reed Chester
David Schlagman
Marty Heller
Barry Sale
Eric Lyzak
Harold Hendry
Steve Ledger
Bob Brown
Lee Rateike

Anyone else? Jim, are you in?

We need to let the people in Amboy know for sure how many cars to expect since we have a reserved area for the WCCC in the center of town.

The plans are to meet at McDonalds at the intersection of 14 & 176 at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 30th.

Second meeting place is Highway 47 & 72 (Starks Corner) at 7:00 a.m. proceeding west to Amboy.

Yes, I will be there, weather permitting. Karlene is not sure right now if she will be attending. I will let you know later.

I did not pick up a resistration form, but we did it last year at the event.

Is it too later for a t-shirt, size large for me?

Default Amboy

I am "iffy" on for Amboy. I'll let you know closer to the event. I'd like to go, sounds like a fun drive.

Glad to hear I am not the only one with fond memories of their time with Joe.

I saw the pearl/orange car at Rolling Meadows. The guy sounds like a typical "sold my vette/bought a Cobra" guy. In my opinion, the Superformance has no more "real" Cobra lineage that any other replica.

I can't believe someone with a replica is talking smack about cars being replicas....

Ok, we will have a snake and eggs at the IRON SKILLET at the PETRO TRUCK STOP (I-39 and Rte 38) at about 8:00 Sunday for the members going to Amboy Car Show. We stopped there last year and the food was very good and fast. It is two miles north of Hwy. 88 on 39. Hope to see you there.
