Description:

Bought this tank for my Kirkham, but the outlet is on the wrong side for my car. It's a really neat piece, polished brass on the top, painted black on the lower half. A few small dents and blemishes, it was that way when I purchased it. I was happy to pay $150 plus shipping, but was disappointed that it wouldn't work with my car. My loss is your gain. I'm asking $125, and I'll pay shipping in the lower 48. I'll try loading pictures with the add. If it doesn't work, I'll try my gallery.
Thanks, Ron

BXX1 (Ron), "it aint so." Nope, no plans on selling the Cobra. I suppose anything is for sale, given the right price, but I have no plans on selling the car. I spent all day today at the "cobra roundup", and was very disappointed to not be driving the Kirkham...I'm curreently in a cast...ended up working pre-grid.
Tuska, the outlet is on the right. Fine for lots of FE-powered cars, but not a cobra with original type plumbing.

Right meaning the passenger side?. What is the height from the thermostat connection. I have a '68 s/o in my contemporary and the measurement is 5.5 inches. Is the picture you have posted show the tank as it would be installed?

The outlet is to the passenger side (right). I realize that the picture above is misleading, but the outlet is definitely to the right.
As for hight, I guess that depends on where you are measuring from. Yes, it is about 5.5 inches from the top of the inlet flange to the top of the tank. It's a standard tank that has been restored/polished a bit. I hope that helps.

Are there any soldered up holes in it? Was it pressure tested?
I'll take it if no holes and passes pressure testing.

I was never able to put it on my car for the reasons mentioned, so I can't say for sure. However, I can put a cap on it and pressurize it with my compressor and see what happens. As for what may have been done prior to my purchase, I can't tell. But it looks pretty good. From my experience, these are very difficult to repair if they have sprung a leak at the joint. I don't see any evidence of any solder repairs.
I'll test it as well as I can. If it leaks, I'll take it off the market. If it doesn't, you can try it out on your car. If it then leaks (within 30 days), you can send it back for a full refund.
Sound fair?

Ron,
Yes, that's fair. Not sure you should hook up your compressor to it as radiator caps for FE's are usually 16# before popping. Anything more than 22# is probably excessive. I'm more concerned with any obvious solder repairs and those would probably show up as lumps under the black painted bottom. How about shooting some pix of that portion? Send them to my email address: santafe66@gmail.com
Assuming it checks out, how do you wish payment?

Paul,
I was going to use fairly low pressure in a tank of water. My cap is set at 16 lbs, so it wouldn't make sense to go any higher. I don't recall anyl lumps, and I think I may already have some pics of the bottom at home. I'll email them tonignt.
We're not talking a lot of money here, so just tell me when you've sent a check, and I'll ship the tank (assuming everything checks out).

I was the buyer. Just would like to say that it was exactly as presented and I'm very happy with it. I'm taking it to a Radiator shop to see if they can turn the tank around so the outlet is on the driver side. If they can, it will work perfectly for me.
Thanks Ron.
