Description:

For sale, the first five years of the Marque and the Shelby American club magazines. These early issues are a treasure trove of information and photos. These early issues are much harder to find as the club was just starting up and there were fewer members with less issues being printed .
Included in this package is the very rare VOL. 1, NUMB. 1 through VOL. 4, NUMB. 2. The club then renamed the bi-monthly issues to “THE SHELBY AMERICAN”, starting with issue VOL. 4, NUMB. 3 to VOL. 5, NUMB. 6. The first year printings were about 50 pages or more with later years having about 60 pages or more. They had many fascinating interviews with various Shelby American employees, from management , sales personnel, to line workers etc., even, of course, Carroll Shelby. Interviews with ex-Ford employees, factory team drivers and independendent Shelby racers. Even Ken Miles was interviewed on a radio station. They somehow got a copy of the interview and transcribed his comments and printed them in one of the issues. It would take to long to print the names of all the various workers to some of the best American racers who raced Cobras and GT-350’s that give a clear understanding of the nitty- gritty, Company politics, etc.
There are many articles on rare parts, repairing many various mechanical parts that were for Shelbys only. Also the constant improvement of competition Cobras, from the 289 FIA up to the 427 Competition Cobras. Details on the original R-Models with many photos printed with most articles. Of course they detail many of the Shelby American races from Riverside to Le Mans. Giving many of the behind the scenes decisions that make these club issues so priceless.
Interviews with the Shelby car salesmen and how they induced a potential customer to buy a car that would be illegal today.
The classified ads from these early years will have you trying to build a time machine. Many issues have twenty or thirty Shelbys, Cobras, GT-40’s Boss 302’s, Griffiths, Mustangs for sale with prices that could make your heart give out. Then the parts section with thousands of rare Shelby induction systems, engines, trans, even parts that you never new existed.
Most of the 30 issues are in outstanding condition with a few in average condition. A truly rare opportunity to aquire some litature that is hard to come by.
Don’t miss out on this rare opportunity as they aren’t available very often.

I remember when a Shelby Magazine Rep., think his name was Allen, came and did an interview with Hal and Nancy Keck on him and CSX3008back in the late 60's. Never saw the issue, if you have it, I'd be interested in buying that issue.
