Description:

I have a complete , running, standard bore, standard crank 428 motor. The heads are original, I think. The intake, carb, and crank, rods and pistons are all correct. The block is NOT original. Some of my recollections as to what is in this motor is a little fuzzy as I haven't peeked inside it for about 20 years. As I remember, the block was either a 410 mercury or a HD truck block. Whichever it is , was the correct SERIES of block castings. I have several extra FE heads for it , some are the GT heads. I also have an extra , internally balanced crank that would need a journal welded that would go with the pile'o'stuff.
I would consider this motor to be a running core motor although a quick valve job and a cam would probably put it back to it's stock 435 HP state. It is still in the truck that it has lived in since 1978.
I would prefer that the buyer hear it run , then disassemble it to verify that all is correct and as advertised. I'm not exactly sure what the value is, but I'm open to reasonable offers or trades for 302 stuff would be considered.
Thanks for looking,
John

I'm in Cali-forny between Modesto and San Jose just east of Mt. Hamilton. As I remember it was 745 fully dressed.

What are you looking to get out of it and can you pallet it up for shipping?

Sure I'd ship it. It's in the truck it's lived in since 1978. It's been freshened a couple of times and it still runs good but I would do a complete tear down before running it. I have a bunch of extra "stuff" for it. Heads, crank (bad shape) valve covers,,,,,,,, Would you be interested in the complete assembly , water pump to flywheel , carb to pan ? As we know , these things are heavy and with all the extra "stuff" you could hit 1000 lbs for shipping.
What would I take for it,,,,,,, I really don't know what's reasonable? I've shopped around a bit and haven't found any comparisons. What's the cheapest one you've seen?
