Geez..When I spend a half million, I sure am not going to listen to seller. I get them appraised and do my own research. I truly feel for the guy....

so, if i was to purchase a toyota camry at half a mil, being the price tag on it at the dealership, regardless of how it was presented to me and assuming i wasn't mislead but rather told this is the asking price if you want it..pay up. and the market value is clearly well below. - being a free market and prices are not controlled by the government, would i have a leg to stand on? or once the cheque is banked it is my bad luck? leaving aside dealer warranties and cooling off periods.
could a supermarket like coles decides to sell milk at $20 a bottle and i have the free choice to buy or not? or it has to be considered a specialty milk for whatever reason for it to be price tagged freely.

A lot of assets have 'softened' in value over the last couple of years. I've got a share portfolio that is a bit limp with a current market cap of $60,000 with the potential to get back to $500k. How about a swap.

As Bernie said earlier, I would be checking the validity of the dashboard signature as well. It doesn't look much like the original. Habe a look at Carroll's Website.

CSX4048 - really feel for ya Bud!
Just a thought - why not take the car back to the dealer and trade it in on 4 or 5 of his Ferrari. Don't say a word about continuation stuff. You may take a loss, but not to the extent that you would here. Just tell him the car is too much for you, and a variety for Italian sportscars will suffice. Then you'll have actual valuable vehicles that you can sell at your behest. Just a thought.

My though would be a visit to a legal advisor.

I would definitely do what STL Mark suggested and take the car back to the same dealer as a trade. Doing that will either recoup a good portion of your investment or it will give you a good idea of what this dealer actually knew when selling the car (if he sold it to you for $700K but then turns around a short time later and tells you it's only worth $50K on trade I would have some real questions for him!).

the idea of trade in sounds like a good idea to check this week.

oh and Bernie, he may trade you for a Ferrari 1960 250 GTO, all original with a touch of replica

Actually there may BE a "law against that", claiming a CSX4000 is not a "replica". The term "continuation" is bunch of BS as well. FRAUD, straight up and down.

According to the recent TRADE MARK law suit, Shelby vs FFR. The written opinion of the JUDGE declared that Shelby's were REPLICAS. NO DIFFERENT than an FFR, or an ERA, or what ever other REPLICA is being made today.

Based on that fact, a Shelby being a REPLICA, Shelby was denied a trade mark. There was no significant difference between his car and an FFR.

So, a Continuation? BS. Not a replica? More BS. By finding of the COURT!

It is a genuine Shelby, just like an FFR is a genuine Smith brothers car, or a Kirkham is a genuine Kirkham brothers car. NO DIFFERENT in the eyes of the law.

New old stock parts you say? Shelby almost went to jail some years back for making THAT very claim!

It didn't fly then and it won't fly now. It's a REPLICA, using MODERN parts, period. There are no left over NOS frames, bodies or substantial pieces left to build a "Cobra" with, by anybody, including Shelby. More fraud...

The trade in is a good idea for starting your legal claim. If he offers you what we think he will, then this will only help your case. Good luck with it and let us know how it goes.....

I was wondering how this was going? It should have a Statement of Origin, on that it says Model year 1965, that is like the registration paperwork where you register it as the model it most closely resembles. On the same piece of paper it has a date when it was actually built. That is the real date of manufacture. You should have a statement of origin, the car stamped on the right front shock tower, a footbox tag matching that number and a cast pewter plaque with the number. Those are all the pieces of this puzzle.
