This car represents the first alloy bodied. leafspring '63 289 Competition Cobra Replica produced by Kirkham Motorsports in 2006.
Painstakingly completed over the past 3 years to replicate the features of the Shelby team cars of the '63 season. Features include front aluminum slabside fenders with fender spats, Joseph or rounded rear flares, kidney bean knock-off wheels, front brake cooling ducts, Girling alloy competition brakes, all steel original style suspension, original specification leaf springs, a cloth covered lucas wiring harness and all proper lucas fuse boxes and relays, radium tipped WWII military dash switches, the proper mix of Stewart, Smiths, and Sun Tach like the '63 team cars, AC pedal pads, a 4 bolt main ford racing 302 producing 400 hp with Italian weber carburetors on an original 60's cobra manifold, correct fafnir weber linkage, '63 dual stack comp valve covers, bendix differential cooler, 240A electric fuel pump, Impact seat belts, original style alternator bracket and lower cast radiator tube, NOS wiper motor.
The engine was completed by renoun Shelby expert Jim Cowles of Shelby Parts & Restorations. The paint is bright blue metallic (slighly lighter than Guardsman) and was completed by Motion Products, a Ferrari restoration shop in Wisconsin known for their Pebble Beach winning vintage Ferrari restorations.
The car was just completed 3 months ago and has been run 500 break in miles. The webers have been professionally tuned on a chassis dyno.
This car needs nothing and is ready for the vintage racing circuit in the US or Europe.
