Description: Factory Five MKII Roadster – This is chassis #5000, which was a milestone for FFR (it was signed by everyone at the factory), and by this time the MKII already had most of the MKIII changes made to it. It was first licensed in 2006 by it's builder who shortly thereafter passed away. I have owned this car since August 2007. The original build cost was a tad over $30K, and since I have owned the car I have added many items (mainly cosmetic), including:

Cobra Roadster SS seats from Sube Sports ($660)
Simpson harness pads
Emblems from Finish Line
Roll bar harness cross-brace from Finish Line
Aluminum door trim from Darkwater Customs
Aluminum side vents from Finish line
Team III wheels w/knock-off covers
Ceramic coated heat shields
427 shifter handle & knob from Finish Line
Pro 5.0 short-throw shifter
Competition dash
Oil cooler (not connected)
Quick jacks from Finish Line
Front air vent mesh from Finish Line
Lift-The-Dot studs for tonneau cover
Fire Extinguisher
Firecharger fire system
Autometer gauges
Hand-made aluminum spats
Russ Thompson shroud
Glass side wind-wings from Finish Line
FFR tinted sun visors
Genuine vintage Talbot side mirror
And a few other small misc items....

Some of the existing highlights at purchase included:

Paint & body by Ken Pike at http://www.streetrodpainter.com/ ($6450), which includes rolled cockpit edges & doors, Ken's custom extended hood scoop, finished hooped hood & hinges, finished trunk lid, hidden body mounts, undercoating, etc..
Braided stainless brake lines
Rebuilt 302 (.030) over, ported heads, Ford Racing F303 cam, balanced, Mac headers
T-5 transmission
FFR IRS option with 3:27 gears and rebuilt posi rear-end
Fresh radiator
Heater with 2-speed motor
Ron Morris fuel system kit
Leather door panels from Levy Racing, Inc.
Ceramic coated side pipes & front panels
Custom steering shaft cover
4-wheel manual disc brakes
California SB-100 registration (smog exempt)
Custom interior & trunk carpeting

This car has a total of just under 3400 miles on it and must be sold as part of a divorce settlement. It has always been adult driven, and to my knowledge no one has even done a single burn-out in it. Serious inquires only! For more info, pictures, or to see the car, send me a message through this site.

UPDATE: 12/28/11

First, I would like to thank all those who have offered their encouraging comments & support during this tough time for me. The Norcal Cobra group is one of the best! And, I would like to thank all the many people who have contacted me with regards to buying this car. Frankly, I am a bit overwhelmed by your number and am trying to keep this as fair as possible by allowing those who have immediately requested to come see the car first dibs at its purchase. I will contact you and we will set up a time to see the car in the order you contacted me.

One thing I did not realize when placing the ad was that members could send me a private message or an email, and I have received both. I have sorted through them all and will contact each of you according to the times received. I think this is about as fair as I can do it. Please be patient. If the car sells during your wait, I will immediately mark the ad here as sold, so as to not waste anyones time. Again, I thank everyone for their interest.

Many people have asked for additional photos of the car & I am presently working to get this done today, and post them all here in one place rather than emailing them individually. Of course, if you would still rather have them sent to you directly I can do that too – just let me know.

I have also been asked about any bugs/issues this car may have. I think there are a few minor issues which I will address here that will be of some concern to some people, and not so much to others. If you are mechanically inclined, these will not amount to much. If you are not, then this may not be the car for you. Presently, I am not in a position to fix these items prior to sale and it will be up to the buyer to address them if they choose to do so.

1)The turn signals stopped working a couple months ago. The four-way flashers work and I have changed the relay anyway, but it did not fix it. I suspect that either a connection has come loose from the T/S switch or the switch has failed. It uses a 66-67 VW 3-wire switch which is easily replaced and widely available. I have been hand signaling in the mean time.

2)When I replaced the dash to the competition style dash on 4/2008 I stupidly attached some “L” brackets I made for attaching it on the right side by using some 3m emblem tape which has now come loose and the dash sags a bit on the right side. These brackets will need to be re-attached by a smarter method. The dash can be pulled in about 30 minutes. I had planned on addressing this and the T/S switch at the same time, but was waiting until Spring to do it & now I have to sell it.

3)There are two very small leaks. One is coolant & the other is oil. The coolant leak only occurs while the car is cooling down after being driven. It loses about 1oz during each cool-down. It is coming from a heater hose at the firewall. I have never bothered to fix it or the oil leak as they have been with the car since it was built and have never gotten any worse. The oil leak is very small, and I'm not positive about where it's coming from. It could be trailing down from a loose valve cover gasket, a sending unit, or whatever. It has never been of significant concern to me. The car gets an annual oil change whether it needs it or not and I've never had to add any oil to it between changes. Note: The original builder was some sort of electrical engineer and was very detailed in his work, but having come from a mechanical background I was inclined to re-check some of his work when I first bought the car. I found that a few of the chassis bolts were not properly torqued, so I went through all of them and re-torqued them to spec. I did not, however go through the engine compartment which is why I suspect a valve cover gasket might need tightening. At any rate, I find these items to be minor nuisances more than anything.

4)Last, the Team III wheels rub a bit in the rear over hard bumps. I just stay away from them, but a couple 1/8” rear wheel spacers should do the trick. I have put off making this fix since I'm aware of it and know to avoid hard bumps, but the car will need to have longer wheels studs put in the hub first in order to correct. This can be done without having to tear anything apart. Just remove the wheel, knock or press them out and install the longer studs. It's quite a simple procedure.

Well, that's all I'm aware of.

I have some existing pics I'm trying to post right now, and will get the rest posted once the fog lifts here. Thanks for reading all this...

Here are the last of the pictures:

2 interior shots. The dash was originally wood, which was replaced by this comp style dash. The trans tunnel still has the original builders wood - which is African ribbon mahogany with ebony inlays - but I have spare carpet if you wish to change it. The leather door closing straps are from Superformance. The mirror is just a clip-on and the standard AC mirror is underneath it.

One last note: This car has never seen poor weather. It is cleaned, blanketed, and covered after each drive. It has never had to be washed - ever!

The nicely finished hood by Ken Pike & the radiator shroud.

The engine compartment from both sides (a bit dusty!). The extinguisher nozzles can be seen from the right side. Also note the clean pulley set-up, etc..

A big thanks to Jim Steele who is now the new owner of FFR5000. And, thanks to eveyone who was interested in this car, and a BIG thanks to CLUB COBRA & the Norcal Cobra group!
