Description:
|
The car was built between 1992 and 1994, and for the last 12 years has been a "hanger queen," The time has finally come for it to move on to a new home.
The car is 289 FIA type, British racing green w/Sunfire yellow stripes. The engine is a 351 Windsor. The long block was built at a local area racing engine shop by a builder who used to work for Tommy Vaughn Ford as a hi-performance Ford engine specialist. Only the block and crank remainin from the original engine. Carb is a 600 Holley double pumper. The car was originally equipped with a larger Holley with vacuum secondaries, but since is was built to be a street driver and not a racer, I found the 600 to be much more suitable. The cam is a Competition Cams 35-452-8 roller cam and roller rockers. Heads are Dart Windsor and manifold is an Edelbrock Performer RPM. Ignition is Mallory.
Transmission is a top loader rebuilt by San Antonio toploader specialist, David Kee, and the rear end is Jaguar IRS with 3.31 ratio.
Wheels are Compomotive 15 inch. A different type of dummy knock-off has been added that looks much more realistic.
There are some things which should be attended to in deference to the cars age: wheels and other polished aluminum should be re-polished. I would recommend that hoses, belts and such be replaced due to their age. There is a stone chip on the passenger side of the windshield. Although the tires show no weather checking and have plenty of tread, they should be replaced due to age. If I intended to keep the car and keep it on the road there are things I would change, but that is a matter of taste and not necessity.
Since completion in the fall of 1994, the car has accumulated approximately 7900 miles.
