Looks like boat motors. If they are in the same boat as twins, one of them should be reverse rotation if I'm not mistaken.

That would be correct. And you can just order a new Cam Shaft from Comp Cams for about $200 and now you would have two engines that run in the same direction.

I believe you also have to change the crank and starter

No, there is no need to change the crank. The starter needs to be bolted 180 deg different.

The crank will have grooves at the rear seal to push the oil in. If they are spun in the opposite direction they pump the oil out. The grooves can be polished out and the modern seals will work fine in that application. Boat motors can be a good score for a list of reasons.

Dual point distributors? Iron crankshafts and intake manifolds?
Bolts on connecting rods, vs. cap screw (Le Mans) rods.
Have the blocks been bored? Have cranks been turned?
