Why wouldn't the owner of 19 want it?
You should try SAAC or Ned, the car is fairly well known
Photographically and thus not lost.
No brainer if the stamp on the VIN plate was to match the # on block tab.
Never saw a block stamped with the car # though? Might be for certain cars?
Its an early car so not understanding the C4 block cast as the car was delivered in the fall 1962. Would have expected a C3 cast block on day 1?
May have been one of the many motors for the car?

I have talked with very well connected Cobra experts that have told me stories of original parts being offered back to original cars and there owners not accepting the offer!
I also have had this happen with some of my parts.
If the engine is indeed from 2019 it would be a fantastic find and needs to be with the car, even if just a display.
Good luck with it.

Thanks. just wanted to add,..maybe the guy i talked to never passed the info to the owner of 2019 ?,.. he was telling me that the cobra started its "real" life as the dragon snake and the 260 wasn't important and $7500 was way too much.that was about 3 weeks ago.THANKS !

The information you sent me was forwarded to SAAC (Shelby American Automobile Club) which is located in CT. Ned has by now seen the information and passed it along to the current owner of the car. Price wise, it's only worth that if the current owner wants to mate the engine back to the chassis, otherwise, you have doubled the motors value in it's current condition.

This 260 is part of CSX2019 history.if I owned a 260 cobra that was missing it's original engine I would want it back, even if it was upgraded to a 289 by shelby.
