Description: 1996 Cobra Hi-Tech 427 Competition Cobra replica re-built by Craig Coombe

During their brief existence, Hi-Tech of Arizona built what is arguably the most accurate Cobra replica available. Tom D'Antonio designed the Hi-Tech to duplicate the original Cobra from the 4" tube frame up. Other than the glass body, it is virtually indistinguishable from the real thing. Tom later went to Shelby to produce their continuation series.

This car, HTM111, was factory-built in 1996, then rebuilt by the remarkable Craig Coombe in 2013. It replicates the full-competition model, so the dual batteries are properly positioned behind the passenger seat, the doors have exposed hinges and no upholstered pockets, there is no glove box, and the suitcase bump is built into the aluminum rear bulkhead. All of the interior panels including engine compartment, wheel wells, interior, and trunk are aluminum duplicates of the original. Powered by an amazing 427FE center oiler, it is docile around town and the TKO600 shifts smoothly as you go through the gears. But when you mash the loud pedal...hang on!

Specifications

427FE center oiler .017 over bore with forged pistons, Erson hydraulic roller cam and lifters, and Erson roller rockers. 12 inch Ford clutch with Mcleod plate. Edelbrock port-matched heads, Ford side-winder intake topped with a Holley 780 carb. 9 quart Cobra oil pan. TKO600 with .64 fifth gear. Jaguar 3.73 rear end. Adjustable front A arms. Wilwood brakes. Smiths gauges.

California legal

HTM111 was registered under SB100 by a former owner as CA9667.

A rare opportunity

There were few Hi-Tech cars built, so they seldom become available. If you are looking for an accurate replica that duplicates both the construction and driving experience of the real thing, then you don't want to miss this chance.

Price: $72,000 negotiable
