Description: I've really loved owning this car but it's time to move on. Contemporary #3152 was built by Don Borders of Image Auto Works in Palm Desert, CA and has been featured in Kit Car on at least 2 occasions. Don describes 3152 as the first Boyd Coddington Cobra Prototype. It is a great machine with a few condition issues but all in all very solid and lovely driver. The car looks authentic and with it's 550 HP 427 Medium Side Oiler runs like hell.

It is a well done and fully capable replica which has done 160 at Riverside and 10.32 @132 mph at Sears Point / Infineon (just before it was banned for no roll bar) Always adult owned and never abused.

The chassis has 22,000 miles and is well sorted and tight, free of excessive rattle or ill manner. The suspension is all E-type and the 3.54:1 4 coilover Koni Salisbury is like new. The car sits low in the back but never rubs. Every attention has been paid to make this car the best it can be, better than the original. At 1.05 g on the skid pad the Contemporary Cobra is unapologetic in it's manner and deed. I'm not a street racer but to quote Brian Wilson... "they don't even try"... and those who have quickly learn that the Cobra was the fastest car on the planet for over a generation for a reason.

The front brakes are 4 piston polished ZF units with Jag rotors, the rear are standard inboard Girling fare. The body and tube steel frame are the original emerald green metallic Imron, the interior is standard Contemporary leather, leather dash, reverse speedo and new Smiths gauges from Nisonger, the steering wheel is Motolita. The wool carpets are rough, the seats are good with great patina and the car looks completely original. I was once publicly chastized by a past President of the Shelby Club of America for leaning on one of the cars parked in the Cobra Corral at the West Coast Nationals... The car was 3152. I stopped leaning on it and to his horror fully hopped my big a$$ up onto the rear fender and finished watching the event... Of course the car was mine. I'm not sure whether he was more embarassed for chastising me for sitting on my own car, or mistaking it for an original. In either case it was high praise for 3152.

Someone needs to take this car and love it as least as much as I have. I just don't have the time to do this car justice. The car has been legally registered in California since day 1 first with a BAR Exemption for a 1966 427 and now as an SB-100 car. It is smog exempt FOREVER.

Make me an offer... Got a piece of land or an interesting trade? Be creative... I'm open to offers. I'd sell it without the side oiler or take the car complete.

The car is located about 1/2 way between San Francisco and Sacramento, CA.

I want $42k but as indicated I'm flexible. It's not about the money.

I sent you a PM. I just realized this ad was a few years ago. Is it still for sale?
