Default What's a CSX6000 fuel bladder/tank worth?

I upgraded my fuel cell that came on CSX6022 to one of Nick Acton's alloy fuel tanks. What's the original bladder and bladder tank worth? The bladder's expiration date was in 2014, so not sure it's worth much of anything. Tank should be worth something though. Thoughts?

Not much, if anything IMHO.
Here's what I did with mine after I had Nick do same thing for me.
I don't think I would be comfortable selling a used fuel cell to anyone, but maybe that's just me...

Could I interest you in some expired fruit and vegetables that I saved in the fridge?

Fuel Safe themselves say no more than 4 years. Then, for a 42 gal like mine they wanted over $4k. No thanks! So I gutted the tank and shipped it to Nick from west coast to NH and back. No more fuel cell. If I go racing with that requirement, I will deal with it.

So does that mean it needs one of those catheters that I see advertised on TV all the time?

I figure the bladder's not worth anything, but thought the bladder tank might be for someone building a car. Maybe not.

Not sure what you mean by "bladder tank". I ripped the entire bladder and guts out, cleaned up the tank and sent it to Nick. He added the baffles and "scavenger cage" around the pickup and return, then welded everything up.

I had Nick send me one of his tanks. My bladder tank is the alloy encasing the bladder was in. It had a few drainage holes and a removable top section that could certainly be welded I guess and filled with baffling.

So to summarize. You had an aged bladder and removed it and replaced it with a non bladder but baffled tank from Nick Acton. (I would have done the same thing.)

So it also appears Nick will "upgrade" your old tank with baffles.

Since you already have a replacement tank, maybe check with Nick to see if he'd take yours as a "core". My guess is he won't give you much and that it would approximate shipping.

If it's aluminum it might be worth a trip to the recycling center if they buy by the pound...

Well, mine was already fitted and welded up quite well and what came with the CSX car, so I figured I would stay with that. Your results may vary, I guess.

If the cost + shipping was reasonable, I would be willing to take it off your hands and see if I could make it work in my chassis....

Not sure why anyone would want a fuel cell with a bladder in a car that is for road use. I can understand for track use, as most groups that sanction races require a fuel cell. The problem for road use is that fuel cell bladders are only good for 5 years max and then need to be replaced. That is a major pain in the butt and expense for the average driver.

Nick's going to take it as a trade and turn it into a tank. Good to see it recycled the right way and go to another cobra.

Well, if you would have asked "Would Nick Acton recycle the tank?", then I would have said 'Yes, he probably would."

What's it worth? It's still zero to me.

I think most things that I put in the recycle bin are worthless. If they were worth something, I wouldn't recycle them.
