Default Cobra Alternator plugs

As seen on another thread we now have in stock the alternator plug and pigtail as used on original Cobra 289/427 models with the Ford "1G"" plug-in type alternator. Made from Ford blueprints by an approved Ford vendor.

$47.95 per pigtail. USPS shipping in the USA is $7.50 for up to five. Inquire for other shipping options or destinations.

These plugs were used on early Autolite Alternators when Ford was just starting to switch from generators to alternators 1963/64 on street Cobras. FIA Cobras used a purpose built wiring harness that utilized aircraft wiring and connections, this plug was not used on those Cobras.

The "1G" alternator was used 63/64 on Thunderbirds, Lincolns, full size Fords and Mercurys with transistor ignition/427/police options as well as medium and heavy duty trucks.

ALF

The connections were made using individual spade type connectors. I will post a photo ASAP.

Here’s an in period photo that is in the “Cobra Ferrari Wars” book. It’s a little hard to see but you can make out the individual connections. You also can see an example of the FIA specific aircraft wire technique used. Both the FIA Cobra roadsters and the Daytona Coupes used this type of wiring harness.
