Just for Kicks .. another Copper Kirkham
Just wrapped up a powertrain install in the world's fastest penny. Quite the car, a total work of art. Finally, a Cobra with a little extra weight for some traction. I spent 6 hours polishing it last week, and it already needs polished again. I think I'll hide someone in the trailer so it's done getting polished just as the customer opens the door

When it came to us it was polished. I think Kirkham did it back when it was built circa 2005? The current owner had to re-do it this spring when he bought it after it sat in storage, said it looked like an old penny. I redid it (again) last week by hand and it just took 6 hours or so.

Make sure to bring sunglasses while driving! Just make sure not to get it too hot while polishing, I've seen a very wavy Cobra before!
The lift is definitely nice. We build 5-6 cars per year, and I can't imagine not having it. If I had a penny for every time we used it, I could darn near retire. Let me know if you need any help or parts during the build process!

Speaking of Supersnake.. look what's on our other lift Work in progress. Underneath that giant hood scoop are two Paxton blowers. Yikes.

Yes, this is an aluminum AC body with a COX#. We didnt do the hood, someone with far more skill than I will ever have did that. I think a 4-post lift like that is around 2K. Works well when there are wheels on the car, but you could easily make cross bars to support the frame tubes while you're doing suspension/fender sheet metal/etc. I'll check on the brand.

I was at Kirkham years ago with my dad when I was probably 12 or so. Would like to go back eventually and check things out.

Is there no coating available to keep the polished aluminum or copper from filling too quickly? Instead of the actual bare metal, are there paints that would basically look the same? Actual chromed panels (what's an extra few hundred pounds with 600+ hp)? Vinyl wraps, probably last longer than a polish job?
Could you do patination effects on the copper body? A little vinegar and masking tape.

That is a really nice looking Cobra. I wasn't sure that I would like the copper look until Darren got one from Kirkham a few years back and they are awesome.
Is there a website that I could look at that gives the specs on that lift?
Thanks,
Ron
