Question Tire questions

I am haveing difficulty getting tires for my Cobra. My rim sizes are 8 x 17 and 12 x 17 I am looking for 26 " diameter tires. The foot print of the tires should be close to the rim sizes. Mickey thompson has a P315/35R17 (25.8" tall) for the rear. Toyo has a Proxes R1R in 245/45ZR/17, for the front (overall height 26"). These are the only tires I can find that are close to what I want in width and overall height, in a 17 inch diam. rim. I require the drag radials because of the weight of the car, and the output of the engine. (verified over 700 HP at 5800 rpm 385 series)

Any suggestions?

If you're wanting the tread to match, Nitto NT555R has the sizes you want.

My last tires were the MT ET Street radials. When they wore out I switched to the Nitto NTO5R tires. They hook just as well but handle better due to a stiffer sidewall. Just food for thought. Cheers.

Nitto has the 315/35 rear and 275/40 front which are close to 26". With the twelve inch rear you could run a 335. I have the Michelin Pilots which are no longer made, but they make the PS2 in the same size.
Kuhmo Ecsta XS(Extreme Performance Summer) 235/45R17 is 8" tread and they have the 315 rear also. There isn't much in the 17" tires.

I am now wondering if I should go with 8 x 15's And 12 x 15's in a 26 inch tall tire. I can change the rim order. The rims are custom made by "Vintage Wheel"

Not many choices in 15" tires. I used MT drag radials in the rear and some Firestones for the front and it was fine...except for broken axles and twisted half shafts. I am now running Avons, which are great but REAL expensive. They are 1/2 worn out in the rear with a little over 2000 miles. They are very soft. Whe they are done I'm going back to drag radials. I had over 10,000 miles on the last set and sold them ofr $100.00.
